Dane here! 8/2 is the way we would show that it's fingering weight. So you can also get yarns that are 8/4 and 8/6, and then holding two strands of 8/2 (fingering weight) would give you 8/4 a yarn of the next category.

By the way the reason Hjerholdt has so much black in it is because it is a gray yarn. It is made from danish pelt wool, from danish peltsheep which are gray. Hillesvåg Sølje, Tinde, Varde/Vidde and Blåne also has this effect as its made from norwegian pelt wool. These sheeps wool are not generally valued because of their color and farmers are often not paid as much for the fleece, which some companies are working to change.

Is the Lang Cloud in the 2 shades not wound “inverted”? So it starts deep and dark and the further it goes it becomes lighter? So one is wound from dark to light and the other from light to dark
