Seems good, but need a range of 600km. We do regional work, and can do 400-500km a shift, then the next driver comes in and might do the same. 320km is still quite limiting

and with the years battery will be lasting less and less and to travel above 600km you will have to charge for hours also there are no charging stations in europe yet charge 2 days at home while a diesel truck will refuel in few mins and find tons of gas stations and a range of more than 1000 km

That’s not regional that’s national work judging by the KM’s you stated. Regional is basically local pallet work, waste work. The battery sizes are way to small, with the amount of asphalt on the roads, oil isn’t going anywhere. The only way to cut emissions is to raise interest rates, collapse the global paper economy & turning to a gold standard. Pensioners would be the biggest loser on a gold standard What common man ( government)needs to figure is, debt based economics is the problem, not fossil fuels

@@recycleman975 You do know that charging stations are available today up to 350 Kw....and Tesla mega-charger that has been prototyped with PepsiCo can charge at 1MW. The EU has started a programme to install high powered chargers on the main long haul routes Europe. Manufacturers estimate there will be 300,000 HDV (heavy duty vehicles) on the EU roads by 2030, although the EU says this needs to be 500,000 to meet CO2 reduction targets.

They are amazing. But they are hugely. The original R type were a nice looking cab. A friend of mine has a S type and everyone remarks on how hugely they are. A man said it looks like a German made it.

Según qué países y trabajo pues perfecto, pero para la inmensa mayoría de Europeos es de momento imposible, hasta que no tenga rangos mínimos reales de autonomía de 1000 kilómetros, no nos podemos permitir perder el tiempo repostando cuando dependemos de un tacógrafo y los tiempos son tan ajustados, llegará el día seguro, pero ahora no es opción

That'll just reduce the trailer's capacity. Trucks have weight restrictions, so it's ideal they get the most out of their capacity, within regulations.

The point is to sell you parts and keep you in the shop a couple times a year ... China is way ahead on this technology with switchable battery systems keeping the truck workable 3 shifts non stop ! Remember , this is one of the manufacturers living from parts ,not the truck selling itself

Scania made the pantograph tractor unit for use in the trial for overhead charging whilst driving. It’s currently being trailed in Germany and there’s a stretch of the M180 that’s been selected for a potential trail in the UK. I suspect that’s the way forward for electric haulage, because 300kms is nothing

It's will be sad to switch from diesel V8 power full I love so much the v8 engine sound and now scania start to switch to electric AC induction motor to drive the power train truck so we have many and many parts to make this 3phase AC motor to work we have the the high voltage battery packs the charging high voltage cables and connector source to charge the battery packs and high voltage distribution module and DC TO DC MODULE to transfer the high voltage to low voltage for charge the 24volt battery this battery still use in the truck to feeed the low voltage parts in the truck like the high beam light and obd2 scanner diagnose connector and instruments cluster and power windows system and power mirrors system and blower fan many other components work on 24 volt the different between heat systems and A/C in a diesel engine trucks the heater core work in a high voltage high resistance coils its not dependent on coolant and A/C COMPRESSOR WORK also on high voltage and the inverter to control the 3 phase AC induction motor wich the inverter transfer the DC To AC to make motor work and control the torque of the motor and speed this will depend how much the driver press the Accelarator pedal and when we change to the reverse mode we have two option first from the gear box reverse gear or by transfer the electric poles on the 3 phase AC motor wich the motor turn in otherwise and the truck will be reverse all this happens by the inverter module by the communication with the switch selector low voltage can bus and the accelerator and in the electric truck we have cooling systems for each module high voltage for cool down the temperature in the module and prevent overheating wich in each module we have two pipes coolant input and output to the Radiator and we have also coolant pump for recycling the coolant and we have coolant system in the AC 3 PHASE induction motor to cool down the stator to prevent the coils damage and coolant flow inside the shaft of the rotor and lubrication system for motor bearings rear and front the motor by oil pump and battery cooling system also we ahve two pipes one coolant in and out to the Radiator so we have 3 coolant systems thus mine we have 3 coolant tanks The battery charge at 90 minutes aprox In diesel engine it just take 5 minutes to fill the tank i don't love the electric cars because its not have the real sound of Combustion engine it just very quit and no gears shift sound my car is opel kadett 1.6 GLS 1988 manual gear box when i drive this car i feal so happy to listen to the real engine sound and shifting gears so I'm not change my. Car to electric car with quit sound and 6 hours to charge the battery i prefer the gasoline engines and diesel engines Regards. Engineer : Abdel sattar El hassan

@@carl8790 Well said, the truck is made to do a specific job. The Tesla Semi and upcoming trucks from Volvo, Mercedes and others are being designed to do long hauls. Some people seem to think these trucks need a daily range of over 500 miles but that’s not the case. Drivers are limited by law on the hours they can drive and a truck struggles to average 50 mph. We all want to see the end of diesel, it is the most polluting of road transport fuels. It will be replaced by battery electric and fuel cell electric, that much is inevitablele

OEM's including Scania need to fight against governments and politicians and this ridiculous race to electric vehicle disaster. 1 - Expensive to buy. 2- no-one will buy it after a few years old so the depreciation is awful. 3- insurance companies will want to write them off after minor accidents due to higher risk of fire. 4- Battery fires are extreme and take hours, or a day to extinguish. 5- Expensive to repair. 6- limited number technicians available to repair. 7- Completely unsustainable due to the carbon footprint of the batteries 8- unsustainable due to the much shorter lifespan of electric vehicles so more vehicles need to be manufactured.

@@MrConor159 By not using a gearbox? A _huge_ increase in efficiency. Even the most efficient gearboxes are responsible for more losses than the worst current electric motors. Plus, it's heavy. Which means by removing the gearbox, not only do you gain power and efficiency, you also gain weight. That's why this design is a compromise. Reusing IP is fine up to the point where it isn't anymore. And a fully electric truck is such a situation.
