At the end of the video the boy reading (Angelo Speziale) was convicted for rape and murder he did in 1982 (five years after this show), they found his DNA matching to the one in 1982 after he committed a robbery in 2010, they only caught him after 28 years. The strangest thing is, in 2002 they made another TV show where Angelo Speziale said that because of the scared straight program he became a better man. In his book (Black box thinking) Matthew Syed's tells us why this program (scared straight) have been increasing the likelihood of committing another crime even after they were sent to prison to witness the lifers (prisoners sentenced for life).

This is actually a two hour long documentary that was made in the 1970s. The show came back around in the 1990s but received poor ratings after a while and went off air. Then the show came back around 2009 and was a hit for several seasons until eventually going off air again. The original documentary is really worth watching. It is called “Scared Straight”. The new shows we see today have the word “Beyond” in front of “Scared Straight”. (Beyond Scared Straight) In the original documentary, these kids get to meet these prisoners 10 years later and it’s just an amazing little cherry on top to the entire production, in my opinion. I only know this because I am the one who made the video above… I just am logged into my other account and too lazy to switch over. There are so many clips I didn’t use when making this video, I’ve been recently debating making a part two. We’ll see. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻

For those who make comparisons between this and Beyond, there is something you should know. When this documentary first came out, Scared Straight programs were scarce. No one and I mean no one knew what to expect when they saw this documentary. There was the element of surprise that added to the overall shock of the programs. Nowadays there's a Scared Straight program in almost every prison in every city and state. Which on paper seems good, but the fact that it's everywhere, lessens the scare factor. Add that plus the fact that we're in the digital age watching these, kids included. It's why even the most dangerous of convicts don't come across as scary anymore. Because we know what to expect and unless they actually get physical, it doesn't scare the kids in the slightest.

Please - I'm gonna hurt - I got too much time already - please , don't make me hurt you' Now This is far And beyond waaaay more scary than any scorcesse movie - it make sopranos look like kindergarten- I don't know the name of this prisoner - the first one, but it's deeply chilling - and to be respected on so many levels - and funny too
