I was in high school when I first saw this, and I too wanted to be just like her. I remember loving the way she dressed in the movie, she was soo sharp!

My first time seeing it was in the 1980’s. It was on the late late movie. I had never heard of it before then and I’m a Sidney Poitier fan.

I heard abbey lincoln say in an interview that she was a jazz singer and that's what she wanted to focus on. back then, everyone had more than one talent. abbey lincoln was in 'nothing but a man.' and so was gloria foster who was the oracle in the matrix.

povonodo This is one of the films that made Sidney Poitier the top boxoffice draw of 1968, the first black actor to achieve that title! Only four other African American actors had accomplished that over the last fifty years: Eddie Murphy (1987), Will Smith (2008), Denzel Washington (2012) and Chadwick Boseman (2018)!

I was 7 yrs old when my mom dragged me to see this movie with her. I lost interest in it cuz I was a kid but enjoyed the snacks and the gambling trucks for some reason
