Scherzo for Orchestra was one of three orchestra's awarded at the National Youth Composer’s Challenge. This piece was influenced by Shostakovich’s use of percussion, comedic timing and solo wind instrumentation used throughout his 9th Symphony. This symphony was opposite the standard approach to a composer's 9th Symphony, typically the composer's most grandiose and triumphant piece of work. I hope you enjoy it!
