This series is hysterical. My mother was always too nervous, sitting at the breakfast table smoking and crying....over something. Anyway, my dad made our lunches. He was a butcher. Huge chunk of salami, last nites Italian bread, a coupleof.meatbslls from last Sunday and a pkg of Hostess cupcakes. And packed in the first bag he could find, tied w butchers string. I ALWAYS pack my kid’s lunches! My boys have came home numerous times telling me how they would share their lunch with another student that didn’t have any food/barely had anything. Obviously I’m very proud of my boys for being so kind and compassionate but it breaks my heart that these other children don’t have any food. That’s not right. I’d starve to death before I’d let my children go hungry.

My girls were either the “love to cook” or the “first timer” depending on the day and whether I packed their lunches or allowed them to choose…lol…there was no in between. Now they’re both in high school and refuse to take lunch bc “ew mom that’s so not cool” and then won’t eat the cafeteria food bc “omg that’s just gross” so they eat a small breakfast and starve themselves until they get home. Both have lunch money just sitting in their accounts which I’m sure will still be there when they graduate. 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🤷🏻♀️

I don't get where they get it idea that it's uncool to bring lunch. where I'm from and where I've been nobody cares at all whatsoever and if they don't eat I've found that (from my experience) you get irritable and tired in your next class and your grade slips. One of my most vivid memories from elementary school was when a boy in my fifth grade class brought all the ingredients to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, including the whole loaf of white bread, the peanut bar jar, the jelly jar, and a knife! They had to bring him to the principal’s office to explain that he couldn’t just bring a knife with him to school (even if it was just to make PB&J)! 🤣

@@elsienicole5663 yeah, ik I like to chill with my teachers and talk to do something, I’m also in many activities which on long days is like 13 hours at school straight. I’m 11 btw. Get not nearly enough sleep but at the end of the day I’m alive and not suicidal, like many others I know. Plus I signed up to be at school that long, to help teachers and others. Also uhm… the world is kind of devolving and dying with the human population so. I know it’s a lot but I do have fun and the summers are… uh boring and I do nothing and procrastinate life because premature burnout, and mild depression. =D I’m also the most confident and bubbly person out of most people I’ve met. The fun times I go on with my family and friends are nice enough. Yes I know being adult is a lot more stressful but like this is the most I’ve felt in my life so it feels scarier than it really should be. Although I wish to go and run outside and be carefree it’s hard to even brush my teeth in the morning, once I finally get out it feels AMAZING LET ME TELL U. If my parents didn’t care that it’s really cold my window would be open rn. The outdoors is my play place but the internet has sadly taken over. It’s not as bad compared to friends but not that great. Edit: I’m Turing 12 in a few days

I used to make 4 lunches for me and all my siblings…it started out as me just doing it to be nice on the first day of school, and making sure they got everything they wanted and had a good meal. But it turned into 2 or 3 years of spending an hour every night making lunches. I’m not even the oldest. I’m second oldest. Eventually, I just didn’t want to do it anymore and had them start making their own lunches. No one complained or refused to like I was afraid of for a few months before I was fed up. Wish I had done that sooner.

I wish my mom made lunches for me, like, I would love a simple bento box filled with random food, and a cheesy note in my lunch but I feel like asking for all that would be wayyy too much. I usually just get random unhealthy packaged stuff like a lunchable, and maybe if I’m lucky, a snack, which is still good nonetheless and know some people get nothing at all, so I’m glad for that. My mom also has tried making Microwave Mac and cheese as well as Heat up Ramen as well which is awesome. :)) These days though, I’ve skipped lunch too many times because of me either not having time to eat or not being hungry, and currently as it stands, wasted too much food to the point, where my mom stopped packing for me. :(

The teachers didn't care that much as long as you ate, but my mom took the sugar-free rule very seriously, and my food was never that appetizing so i didn't eat much, and i was hungry the whole day. Then i started to make my own lunch, and it's still healthy with fruits and vegetables, but it's stuff i actually find appetizing, im so much more awake and happy at school now, and even though im in middle school and its not sugar free, i still don't bring anything with sugar, mostly Because my mom wont let me😅

Growing up I had two immigrant parents that worked together on my lunch. My Hungarian father would pack huge chunks of meat and cheese onto bread, sprinkled with plenty of seasoning. My English mother insisted that was way too dry and would add English mustard and tomato on one side, then step away for a moment and forget she did that and put pickles and Mayo on the other side. Then I got whatever weird snacks they got. Safe to say I didn’t eat a lot in elementary school.
