Based on the fact that the principal came prepared with Bible verses and a bracelet makes me think that Kaylee’s actions caused him to “stumble” or “sin” and he retaliated. This is something commonly seen in churches. With older male members chastising women and girls for their actions causing them to sin. This whole thing gives me a pit in my stomach. High school students watching this, if you’re ever in a disciplinary meeting with the school, you always have the option to ask for a parent or guardian to be there. I was going to a school really close to this school and I can say that the school systems here sweap teen girls under the bus all the time and then just hide it. We need help down here but it’ll never come to light. Live oak, denham, walker, central, etc. they need to be replaced, removed, or just evaluated. gender roles destroy these schools and I’m tired of this, I was bullied very openly and they don’t care because they can’t ruin their precious football player scholarships. My friend has been SA’d and they told her to wear longer skirts and boys are treated like they should bulk up and they have major mental issues that cause them to do drugs or end up in jails or pine ridge, a boot camp for kids who “aren’t living up to expectations”. I just hope I can find a good school for my kids but idk how I’m going to get out of here to make sure they can have a fair future.

But god forbid he do anything about the multiple male teachers having inappropriate relationships with students. That’s a-okay. He also once called me in his office because he saw me wearing a choker and felt some kind of way about it. He asked me if my parents knew that I came to school dressed like that, and asked me if I was struggling with sin. I ended up having to take it off because he felt it was inappropriate. My gut was screaming throughout this video. Given how far the principal went in this situation, I thought there must be previous questionable behaviour with other students. While it is fantastic that he is no longer in a position of power in that school, there is every chance he will go on to oversee another, most likely a private, religious-based one as they will agree with his methods. In those schools there is often no clear line of rights vs religion so many students and parents would blindly follow or keep quiet if there was questionable behaviour. As for children being forced to meet with ANYONE alone, that is not allowed anywhere in the US. A child ALWAYS has the right to have a parent/guardian present just as a parent/guardian ALWAYS has the right to be present. We are discussing minors, who are held to very different legal and social standards than are adults. This principal violated rights on so many levels. The mother and daughter should sue the teacher and school district for the money she was eligible to receive through the scholarship that will now been denied her by the actions of the principal. Kudos to Mom who is fighting for her daughter. This exceptional young lady could have been forced into a dangerous mental health crisis if not for her supportive mother. We must always fight for our children when appropriate to ensure they know they have a strong ally backing them.

I just wanted to add on to this topic: 1. This is the same principal who got caught cheating on his wife with a bus driver 2. During senior prank, his son trashed the school. Did he get anything more than a slap on the hand? Absolutely not. Did Jason make every single kid clean it up even though they didn’t participate? Yep. 3. When kaylees mom asked why just Kaylee, Jason said she was the “Hood ornament of the school” 4. He didn’t resign. He’s taking leave of absence until the end of the year. Credited by WAFB who is an actual local news station with plenty of credibility. 5. I am so happy he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. He has done horrific things to not only I, but others that have shared their stories and more that have stayed silent. 6. There’s a text floating around from one of the coaches threatening the students that they are not allowed to post about anything about Kaylee because they signed a social media contract 7. Idk if it’s the same coach but there’s another text going around saying they are changing the dress code because the clothes they’re in now makes it hard on the male coaches.

I have a theory. Principal saw this video and it got him feeling certain feelings that he thinks are wrong due to his religion (when they're really wrong b/c she's a child). As a result, he blames HER for "tempting" him and decided to go scorched earth instead of dealing with his impulses. I know it sounds perverted and I may be wrong, but this is where my thoughts went.

This was literally Judge Claude Frollo's whole character struggle in Hunchback of Notre-Dame: had too much lust for Esmeralda, hated her because she was Romani (gypsy is a huge no-no word) and was responsible for persecution of Romani people in France, lust is sinful, so he focused on punishing her (and in turn, Quasimodo and Phoebus) for HIS own sinfulness. Perfectionism is only rewarded as long as you stay perfect, the second you make any tiny "mistake" they act like you're a no good troublemaker. They just want to have 100% control over you, that's what it is. They want to control the kid who is groomed into becoming a people pleaser and never allowed to say no. He only punished the girl with perfect grades and nobody else, because he wants to control her to be obedient, while he knows he cannot control the other kids in school because they don't care about their grades as seriously as she did. She was part of the meeting, and then got exposed for dancing to an explicit song. I don't think she should escape this without repercussions either. I also hope there's some way to get her a scholarship back. She earned it and didn't do anything to have it taken away. This whole situation aligns with what I experienced in American public schools, which is that in a lot of schools the administration only cares about students scoring well on standardized tests, doing all the extracurriculars, and generally making them look good so they get the funding and reputation they want. They're not really concerned about them as people beyond how they make the school "look" and they will absolutely throw you under the bus immediately and totally eff up your life and future if they feel like it. A similar thing was done to me so this isn't surprising in the slightest. Also, religion is RAMPANT in middle & southern American schools, along with institutionalized racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Consider Florida, which is legislating what words you can say and what books you can read in public school simply because of the governor's religious beliefs. Our schools are really messed up, generally. This story got attention because she had family support and really spoke up about it -- that often doesn't happen and it usually gets swept under the rug, especially for minorities.

There should never be a meeting at your child’s school where your child must be there but the parent is barred. Not unless it concerned the child’s safety or well being at home and they’re trying to assess the situation and don’t feel the child will open up with the parent there. Other than that, any meeting, especially one where a child is being disciplined, shouldn’t even take place until the parent is called and given the opportunity to attend.

@imat-rex

@phoenixmistertwo8815 She didn't break any laws or rules. If the principal was set a video of her underage drinking at a party and that's why her scholarship was taken away it be understandable. That's not what happened; it was a clip of her dancing like a normal teenager. The principal also chose to discipline her based on religious beliefs, the American public school system is not supposed to encourage any one religion since it is funded by the government, so the separation of church and state mentioned in the first amendment applies.
@phoenixmistertwo8815
8 ай бұрын
@imat-rex , looking into reasons that scholarships can be taken away, the one catches my eye is that a violation of school conduct can be grounds to remove a student from the scholarship. I read that in this case, it was stated that she no longer represented the school based on what was seen on that video. That said, I'm sure the right person was modeled after the legacy moral foundations that are a part of Christian values, and thus, her party behavior put her entire character at risk as I am sure there was another student more representative of those values. It seems that the principal mentioning religious values, if that even happened, is because such good morality is part of that religion. I suspect he wasn't preaching at her, but instead, explaining to her that the requirements for being the school representative student includes values that religions and philosophies across the world adopt. It seems the students are simply trying to demand that her dance at some party with the other girl doing that vile disgusting twerk, which basically is a dance of how they look taking a dump, must be something that cannot ruin her character. Well, I see their point, but I totally disagree. What the video revealed is a part of this girls character that they hadn't seen before, and if they had known about her out of school partying, she would not have been picked. In many ways, this girl is a sore loser who should walk away and give the award to someone who does fit that mold. On the other hand, she could potentially redeem herself only if she could convince the principal that it was just a passing phase. Of course that's not what happened and it seems she decided to cancel his career and make him the bully in all this, leveraging this whole, 'I'm just a girl', tired and overplayed routine we see all the time thanks to the damages of 'metoo' and the vile feminists who pushed it. I bet that if she handled the meeting with the principal better and with respect, she would be back on the path. I think she started crying and probably got all emotional like girls do, and then went viral online like teens do, with no regard for the livelihood of the man they just fired or forced to resign. Was one little dance that bad to cancel her as a choice for that scholarship? No, probably not, but I don't think it was just about the dancing. I think the video showed a girl who no longer fit the mold to represent that school. It's their choice as to who they pick from what I understand. The fact that religion is on the table is probably because the principal simply brought it up as a basic guide to how that person is picked. Clearly it was a mistake for religion to even be mentioned given the separation of church and state, but I am unsure as to how the mention of religious morality would constitute a violation on the part of the principal representing that public school. Just because one equates good morals with religious teachings, in a short hand explanation, doesn't really mean they are preaching to specifically promote their religion. Of course, her lawyers won't say that, and that's why this religious subject matter seems to be on the front burner. It's not a bad legal tactic at all, but I do kinda think that this girl probably doesn't fit that mold, regardless of her good grades. Personally, I myself would not care, or at least, I wouldn't have reported it. It seems that someone did report her and tip off the principle. Perhaps there was another student who knew the truth about her character, or, that person was trying to slander the girl in that way, to paint her as some drunken floozy

We've had some organizations try and get this kind of this under control in my country in the last couple of years. They published a report detailing school statutes' rules that are against the law. The craziest one I remember was "the students are prohibited from engaging in any sexual activity, within OR OUTSIDE the school area". It was a high school. They claimed they have the right to expel anyone that doesn't comply which is nuts and not true at all. I'd recommend any teenager to verify whether their schools are demanding more than they legally can in their countries, because i was not aware of this when i was a kid. He is on the autism spectrum and was getting harassed and bullied by a boy who was several grades ahead of him, but because it was happening after school on his walk home our mom was told that the school could do nothing about it. When the 'rules' are subjective and open to the interpretation of the various decision makers it's almost impossible to abide by them. Unless they specify in black and white exactly what those principles are so you can decide if you can live with them, they shouldn't be allowed. Schools in the US receiving public funding know darn well religion has no place in them and that's the reason the principal was worried as he got found out. What I don't get is how often US laws are ignored by authorities meant to uphold them until publicity arises.

School staff like cops have immunity and can’t be sued directly. Suing a school district takes tens of thousands of dollars and about a decade to complete. Then all it takes is one Christian in this heavily evangelical area to go “he was just doing the Christian thing” and refuse to vote against him to sabotage the entire thing. As a former teacher, it’s basically impossible to successfully sue a school. Out of the few that make the news there are tens of thousands of other attempts that never make the news and always fall on the side of the school. Schools are owned by the same people who own the courts after all.
