I like how you made the main character a hijabi, and therefore this doesn’t feed into the disgusting “If you dress like you’re asking for it, ofc it will happen to you” narrative. SA can happen to anyone, blaming it on clothes is irrational and stupid. As a Muslim girl it absolutely enrages me when I see men on the internet say sh-t like “dress more modestly and it won’t happen”, but when they see someone with a niqab in public they scream “terrorist” and make fun of them.

One time a guy yelled something racist to my Arabic friend when she first wore her hijab this year. I didn't understand what it meant at first, but when my friend explained, along with another one of my friends (who makes fun of her, but in a joking way, and even HE said the guy took it too far) I was disgusted and I ended up crying for my friend. She didn't cry, but she was offended. I just care for my friends and family too much. So, I'm pretty sensitive when stuff like this happens to them.

i think the only 'critisicm' i have is to make the 'abusing' part a bit longer. i feel like it's too short, i think you could make it turn to like.. a black screen for a few extra seconds (for more impact you could also cut off the music here, maybe add some of those creepy eyes as well flickering on the screen) then have the black screen fade to then show the main character walking down the hallway with the markings. i think this would make it more, uh.. dramatic? i don't know how to exactly say it but i think it would make people have a small feeling of dread or surprise at what happened. but yea, other than that this is great! keep up the good work. :]

TW // My experience My mother looked at and complimented my "chest", and it made me uncomfortable. The only reason she stopped is because I lashed out, but she didn't apologize. When I was developing (I believe I was 11 or 12), my older brother touched my chest on purpose. I thought it was a joke. When I was 12, someone asked me for nudes, knowing my age. When I was still 12, someone asked if I was wearing a bra and when I asked why they would say that, they said it didn't look like I was wearing one. I had a jacket on, along with a bra. I didn't know at those times. I thought it was normal, or deserved and repressed it until now. I'm still unsure if all those times count as sexual assault or sexual harassment. It all made me uncomfortable and that's all I know. The thing is I still look at my mother and brother as family, as if they both didn't make me uncomfortable, and I still say "I love you to them".

I relate to this, I wasn’t actually SAed in a typical sense. But I remember once in first grade the first year I took the bus a kid and I were sorta friends and he sat next to me and basically showed me his you know what unwillingly, and honest to god my memory of all of this is so blurred and fuzzy that I’m pretty sure me made me show my private part to him but I know I touched his. And I just felt gross the rest of the day like just tainted and wrong. I don’t remember all the events exactly of the day mainly just emotions, but I just remember feeling so embarrassed. Now because I was sick a lot and had a ton of UTI’s doctors touched me a lot, which I hated and bc I was so little didn’t really understand why it was happening and didn’t want it so I remember a lot of times just feeling so sick and tainted from it all because I didn’t understand it was for the best of my health and just saw a bunch of people seeing and touching me when I didn’t want it. I know my experience isn’t normal and maybe not technically SA but I still understand a lot of the emotions that this video shows and I knew a close friend who’d been SA-ed and I just remembered her emotions so clearly, and I’m so glad this voice is here. It’s so horrible and embarrassing and uncomfortable and I fucking hate it, the more voices about it the better cause this needs to stop.

I was a victim 2 times and called a racist after reporting it to my school. First kid force me into a relationship I never agreed on, verbally abused me, sexually assaulted me, touching my breasts, arms, crotch, as well as yelling at me repetitively to shut up. I felt so terrified afterward I stopped going to after school events. He also threatened to dox me on school email many times, as I sent screenshots to my principal and also shared them to my parents. Most threatened me about calling the cops on me and saying I did something illegal and to get arrested, he would put my address on the internet and dox me that way, or even go as far as to stalking me and making me feel unsafe. He was a goddamn psycho. That went on for 2 whole school years until I spoke up and said if the abuse continued, I would file another report and it would have severe consequences, as my friends also agreed and told me to do so if it continues. Even if I was close to dying in the dark so someone else could live in the light to be aware of what isn’t right in a relationship, I would’ve still risked it to speak up about it. Second kid was a biracial from Arizona, and he ended up sexually assaulting me by continuing to make inappropriate and disgusting comments about autistics and how stupid they are, repeatedly touching me close to my vagina and almost even daring to touch a small amount of it. Every time I went to the bathroom, he would stare at me and watch me, then ask as well to go, as my teachers all caught onto this after I explained I felt uncomfortable, and they handled the situation. The kid actually ended up moving away from the school, but the racial slurs and comments still stayed until I decided to speak up about it with the principal and thankfully we addressed it. Thankfully the kids who touched me in those ways are either suspended, having a restraining order against them by the state police I reported it about with the help of my parents and principal I had for that year in school, and as well as my friends who also knew what was going on, and reported it out using Safe2Say, as well as I did many times. Thank god I had my friends and family there to save me, as well as the very nice and cooperative principal I had that year. I don’t know what I would’ve done without any of them. Thank you for making this decision to put this on here. I totally agree with the sentiment idea of representing SA with an infection, and the abuser as a monster, yet nobody but one person seen the incident happen. It’s exactly how I felt. I love the way you did all of that just for a school project. Hope you got an A!

Interesting PSA!! It really shows how S/A can happen to anyone, and that anyone can be an abuser. For criticism- I love how the music slows down to show that something is wrong. The message at the end is simple but affective as well!! However, I feel like you could put more attention on the abusing part itself, as it felt a bit rushed!! Someone else suggested this- but a black screen for a few seconds could work. Possibly making the music more distorted could work too!!

I personally know someone who was sexually abused as a child. He never told anyone about it except me since he trusts me the most. The saddest part is that he’s male and we live in a society where men are meant to stay strong or maybe even “enjoy it”. The thing is that he’s a very gentle and sensitive person who is prone to bullying and abuse, so whenever he’s reminded of what happened to him, he sort of “shuts down” his feelings just to hide his pain. As someone who cares for him a lot, it hurts to know about this and being unable to do anything about it other than being his emotional support friend

And considering that the majority, as in about 90% of them, of sexual assault survivors are women, it's fair to say that sexual assault is indeed one of the cases where women are treated unfairly. Let me emphasize, it is ONE of the cases. Women face unfairness in many other cases than just sexual assault, so please stop using sexual assault to complain about women and start being productive and combat r4pe culture as a whole to really make a change

I love the representation that it can happen to anyone and anyone can be affected by it. You did a great job. Hope you get a good grade, and you may not know, but when videos like this are posted, usually a person will click and then realize something is wrong. In short, you probably saved so many people by just posting this. You did an amazing job with the music slowing down to show something is wrong too. S/A is a serious matter, and you represented it in a great way. good job. 🙌

Im gonna play devils advocate and say that for the first scene, they could just be zoning out, perhaps looking at the door or a clock. And If this is the first class or first encounter with the abuser, and before the victim even has sat down they have already deemed them a monster, that's quite some prejudice and or sign of underlying illness.
@ZACONFLICTO

I don't know if this would even count as sexual harassment or not, but in 6th grade, I was in music class, and I had to sing a song with the special educated girl. She wrapped her hand around my torso. At first, I was like, "Okay! Just a friendly gesture. . ." Then slowly, her hand went lower, touching my butt. I got VERY startled, but I kept singing, but I was SUPER uncomfortable. When the song ended, I felt horrible, and I could still feel the handprint. I told the teacher, and she just said, "She has a disability where she can't really interpret things that well that's right from wrong." I felt like I basically just got excused just because of her mental disability.

This is a really well made video, i like it! I've seen people say that you should've made the abuse part 'longer' which i disagree with, while it's important to convey how SA could feel like a neverending nightmare, this almost gives the perspective of an outsider being told a story, some form of SA could be quick and unnoticeable to the eye too, only the victims can feel it. I would also like to note how the abuse part being shown quickly could also show how some people who are victims block out most of those traumatic memories at the time as a way to cope, even if it didn't make them feel any better. Another thing I'd like to say is that people have been giving you shit for using the music, personally i find the use of this music fine, as it shows something is wrong but most people cant see it. Alot of people have kept saying alot of the things in this video are distracting, which lowkey? I find absolutely genius for stuff like this, some SA can be unnoticeable which the distracting environment showed. Alot of the people commenting has been giving you criticism that i find isn't really needed when the video has already conveyed the message the way it wanted to, not all PSA or stuff like that should follow the same way of doing things. Thats all i have to say, great video !

This explains me a lot , so I just moved to a new school and for me new school is terrible I have a high social anxiety and shit so a girl came up to me and seemed cool, so we started hanging out a lot then by time she starting touching me places and saying stuff like “____, oh gosh the kids are kicking in from last night” and she keeps m0@ning it makes me feel highly uncomfortable , I told her to stop but no she does this every day I rejected her but she won’t stop it she’d follow me around like a glue stick, and I hate it , i cry everyday whenever I come back home it scares me , she knows I’m an Aroace , but she keeps it on and giving out excuse like “Oh b-bUt ArEn’T yOu cUpIoRoManTiC aLsO??” Being cupioromantic dosnt make it up , it gets worse cuz she found out I’m a lesbian , also and starting to make more stuff and being worse, then I stoped being a lesbian because of that ,she also made half of the school believes that I’m a wh0re :( and everyone looks at me in a disgusted way , but eventually quarter of the school knew that she was the wh0r3 and not me ,and also not just that she keeps bullying me and hitting me ,that one day I came back from school nose bleeding , I never opened it up to my parents cuz I’m afraid to speak , it scares me buttttttttt,,,, summer break is soon , I’ll finally have 3 months break of her.

This school project of yours has a lot of potential, and it really brings home the message that SA can scar someone for life. When it got to the part where the girl was assaulted I felt horrified and sympathetic so that did its job. However, I have two main critiques: The comic relief (like the guy lifting his locker) should be set before the animation establishes itself to be a PSA rather than between; if you make it comedic at first before shifting it to become completely serious then it will be more shocking to the audience once the mood takes a darker turn and the comedy won’t undermine the message. The main moral is spoken at the beginning so the audience will know what they’re getting into, so they will expect the true shocking part of the message in advance, while the comedic scenes like locker guy will make it seem as if the message is being taken less seriously than you intended. Secondly, the abuser should not look nor act too obviously like a villain, because AFAIK most abusers in real life conceal their abusive natures towards others so they won’t get caught, and only show their true malicious intentions when they know there is no way to incriminate themselves. For example, you could instead try to make the abuser try to lure the victim into a false sense of security and try to earn their trust, but the victim will notice red flags such as the abuser continuously trying to violate their boundaries even when they feel uncomfortable and having body language that indicates a sense of lust within him. He can even be someone whom she trusted beforehand, taking advantage of that trust before revealing his true colors behind closed doors. But anyway there are just my own opinions (I may be wrong and apologise if my takes are insensitive). I hope you improve and that you will be able to make more like these. I’ve never seen SA directly but I understand just how harmful and traumatic it is so I take it very seriously.

This is really well made even for a project, I like it :D I haven't been S/A'd before, thankfully, but I had a friend at school for a few years, who, just this year actually, started making inappropriate comments about me and my other friends, even when we told him to stop. Idk if it counts for anything but in gym class he started following me around and trying to sit by me even when I deliberately moved away. I told my mom when she came to pick me up at the end of the day and it's safe to say I got my schedule changed a bit so I don't have to be in classes with him anymore and he's no longer my friend. I don't really know what this would count as I just got reminded of it. I really don't consider it nearly as traumatic as S/A definitely is (I don't feel traumatized by it at all, really, more like very icked out), but I still feel like sharing it :)

@braineatingamoba
4 ай бұрын
My criticisms of the video: I'm specifically drawn to the fact that the victim is wearing a hijab and is a Muslim. Many Muslim girls are taught from a young age that sex, dating, or any other aspect of love aside from marriage is not permitted in Islam and is ruled as haram. It is imbued as this HUGE taboo and that it should be avoided at all costs, to the point where these topics aren't even being talked about in some cases (which is true, adultery and sex are very big taboos in Islam). This is where the SA comes into play. Topics like SA are tricky to teach in a religion where sex is looked down upon. This results in many of the girls not being taught about SA or grape (without the g), and if they are taught, they are either taught very poorly or they find out elsewhere (through a teacher, the internet, etc). Regardless of how they were taught, many of the victims feel TREMENDOUS guilt and shame, or sometimes even face it by other people, because they feel as if they are sinners and that they went against their religion, even though they were the victims of the situation, and that it was not their fault. I like how you portrayed the feeling of being dirty, the feeling of being infected, but personally, I would pay more attention to the psychological impact of the SA and the guilt the victim feels, especially since she is in a religion where sex is scrutinized. I would have preferred if you transitioned the audio from the pixelated music to a soundtrack more unnerving and emptier, reflecting her reaction to this assault. For example, an audio with unnerving music and lots of wind that plays after the girl is assaulted. The reason why is because the sudden change in audio and the video mirrors the sudden stripping of the girl's purity/innocence Another reason why I place more emphasis on the psychological effects of post-SA is because of innocence and purity Innocence and purity are also traits that are desirable amongst Muslims, hence why the idea of remaining pure before marriage is instilled in the heads of young Muslims, especially young girls. SA/grape will cause the victims to feel impurity and feel like they went against their religion, hence why they feel colossal amounts of guilt and shame within the victims. This is based off my thoughts, opinions, and interpretation. If anyone wants to add to what I said or correct me, you may do so.

The video is really great and all but the music doesn't go with the situation, makes it less serious then it should be and slowing down doesn't help either, probably you wanted to make like an innocent moment change to a darker theme but this type of music is not the one you should use for this things it's too goofy and unserious that makes the video look like a parody instead of an SA advice. Next time i recommend you to use another type of music that sounds more serious or at least that goes with the situation so the tension in the story can be more seen, pls don't see this comment as an hate thing it's just an advice to tell you that you should be more careful with this kind of subjects because there's very sensitive people about this and not talking about it correctly could cause some problems with them, so please be more careful next time you try to make this kind of videos.
