Thank you, these readings help me so much. They are affirmations of so much learned the hard way through my life, but continue to doubt the voice of my intuition.

I love the philosophy and the practical nature of it. However, it sounds like character is static from birth to death. Can a person change their character with concerted effort, hopefully for the better? Or is a person's character the same from birth to death? What about learned behavior? Can a person born with a noble character learn bad behavior then realize the error in judgment and return back to the noble character? And vice versa, can a person born with a bad character (which does not sound right in any event), learn to be of noble character? This I wonder ....

Psychopath by birth, bastard by choice... The eternal question of nature, nurture and the capacity of will. Propensities, if you like. A genetic frame within which one can move (genotype and phenotype).

I wonder also with like 12 step programs or reflective journaling or mentoring of sorts the character though largely determined does not have a little wiggle room. It seems very difficult but could not having something held fixed for some length of time for the mind to ponder come to act almost as an external influence of sorts that can elevate us. hmmmmmm yes and no I think.... I think that is interesting to think about in regards to the Catholic Priests who then abused children. A seeming unlikely combination but none the less widespread.
