Most people don't like or don't understand why the earlier ones had tool kits in the handle. The tool kit is extremely handy in urban survival. Hats off to Schrade for creating an urban survival knife.

I've got one I've been trying to break for 3 years. That was a big factor in choosing Schrades 1070 for Jess-X. Grind geometry is a bit steep on these, so it's not easy getting them as sharp as I like. Horrible to work with in winter unless you wrap the handle with Wilson wrap. Mostly just good for seeing how tough 1070 is. That's what the Super-Froe is made from (coming soon from Schrade)

Cool vid man! That seems like a quite capable knife. The survival kit inside the handle seems like an improvement. I never really was that much into the bits kit. You rock! Big thumbs up!

Good review ! Very good value also. Funny when Bo Randall developed the 18 model hollow handle the Army Doctor wanted the compartment for pills uppers to keep on the march so to speak and pain med. in case a guy was burned in a crash. My favorite Schrade no doubt.

Great review mate. I have the Schf 2 version of this knife. Very strong knife. Not a fan of the gnarled handle, but i wrapped mine in OD Green nano cord. Makes it alot more comfortable to the bare hand, gives it a better profile to hold onto during tasks, plus you've got some cordage to hand. Love this channel. Thanks for sharing. Take care, friend.

I like that it's one solid peace of metal. probably the strongest way to make a hollow handle survival knife. ranger band is needed for the handle. Great video bro!

I have this knife, you're right, you do have to get used to the handle. It is a good knife for the price. I took the tool kit out and put a small survival kit in the handle. Love you're vids brother.

I'm impressed by the blade and one-piece construction, but I agree with you on round handles. Too unstable in the hand. Can't tell where the edge is facing without looking, etc. Serrations are not my thing, either, but at least Schrader is listening to their customers. Might be a truely great knife in a few years, with tweaks. Great video, Tac! Don't know why Otto Korrekt keeps putting an r at the end of Schrader! There! Did it again!

"Birch is tougher than you think" say that to the handle of my small Hultafors axe, it was made of birch and broke after using it for, I don't know, 4 maybe 5 hours all together, Although I did throw it, so there's that, but it did not hold up for shit, nicely shaped axe though, comfortable before it just decided to the on me and the head was nice and slim, so it's actually a decent cutter, especially for it's low weight, still need to get a new handle on it though wow that was rambly anyway, keep up the good work ma man, peace and love from Norway

Try a piece of Talon grip tape. You can get a sheet of it in soft rubber and wrap the handle. Should improve the grip and reduce the shock felt during the stabbing test. Also, metal handle knives in freezing cold temps against bare skin is a bad idea...the grip tape will insulate your hands from the metal.

Hey Tac, great video. I want to mention 2 things. First, I know you dislike listing specs but it is one thing I thought was awesome that you did when I started watching 2 years ago (maybe more? not sure). Did I watch your videos only for specs? no. I just thought it was a nice touch. Second, I do not know if you saw a comment before (don't expect you to catch every comment either) of me asking if you can review the karambits by schrade (neck knife and i think Mc'Nasty). Im asking about the karambits because from some comments I read, you have to do schrade videos and they are free. No its not about being free, I just don't want you to spend money on something you don't want. Don't get it if you don't want to. If you dislike karambits, no problem. Whatever you do I will probably still be part of the tac pac. Sorry for the essay. Just trying not to give the wrong impression.

When you chop wood, you get more shock in the handle when you chop directly into the grain. V cuts significantly reduce the shock. I assume the reviewer knows this though and may only be chopping this way to test how much shock is transferred.
