I got mine in 1997. Still going strong today. Have used it for chip carving, miniature carving, and a plethora of other things. It'll be with me until I'm in the ground I'm sure.

I have the China made sample. It is very well made with quality materials for its price. American Outdoor Brands has done right by the Schrade brands. They continue these traditional patterns and give us a link to the legacy. I am glad they do.

How do you narrow down roughly when the knife was made? I have one of these myself, but the stamping looks different, older, inscription is tighter together making it a little more difficult to read.

I like the smaller knife's:) as probably less survived because they were lost more then larger knifes.

I used to go metal detecting a lot and I found a ton of old pocket knives (most were just rusted to junk), but I can see how many just popped out of pockets when you least expected it.

And the rest got used to death! I still have my pocket knife from when I was 7 (1964) and my Step Dad's knife (circa 1930) was sharpened so many times I literally couldn't tell what sort of blade it started out as! I think it might have been a sheepsfoot, but looked like a spear point!

It speaks of the quality of those old knives, they outlasted the blades they came with or they were passed down from generation to generation. Got to love that!

I have this one and the medium..there sentimental..I've been think about the case small stockman it's just a tad smaller..do you think the little bit smaller case would make much of a difference on how it handles.. 3.8 inches vs 3.63..I don't have any local stores to see first hand

I have two of these usa juniors in the box. Opened but unused. I carry a larger Frost stockman in one pocket and usually a smaller canoe or variant in the other. I just can't bring myself to carry one of the unused juniors because I have 2 sons and each will get one someday.

Use a coin to get it about halfway open, apply Brasso to the area of the tang that would normally contact the spring, and work it open and closed. This polishes the metal in that area making for a smoother pull, when you finish remember to wash it well, and add oil. This only makes it smoother, the springs may still be exerting a great deal of pressure on the blade, however, smoothing, and lubricating the joint can make quite a difference.
