Lifespan estimates for the time are deceptive. If you look at the average for every human born, then the average lifespan was around 35--which makes Ötzi seem like an ancient of days. However, if you look only at the population of humans who made it to age 20 (thereby eliminating all humans who died in infancy and childhood), the average lifespan was 70 years--meaning that Ötzi would have been considered still in middle age. Sure, old age was approaching but he wasn't there yet. It's sobering to consider that it was only about 125 years ago that infant mortality dropped below 10% in the US (and that doesn't count the children who died between age 12 months and age 20 years).

I remember seeing an illustrated Bible for children, in it there was the story of Joseph who interpreted the meaning of the Pharo's dream. 'Store enough *corn* for seven years' - the accompanying illustration showed a mound of what I'd call, maize ( the book was published in America) As you correctly said, maize originates from central America; what you didn't appear to understand is that over here in Britain,we refer to wheat as wheat but also as 'corn' - corn mill, corn fields, corn laws ,corn dolly.' Each one of those references referring to wheat - not maize . The king John bible printed in 1611 has reference to corn in it -but doesn't mean maize. I believe that the misunderstanding came about when the early English settlers in the Americas observed the grinding of maize produced a flour - much like 'corn' ( meaning wheat). In order to differentiate between the 'old world corn' ( wheat) they called 'wheat' by nothing other than that name; Maize was then known as 'Corn'. So, to if history would've been different, corn flakes and pop corn would've been ' maize flakes' and 'pop maize'. You're an exception to the rule if ,as an American you knew that. In my line of work as a flour miller at a museum,I meet many Americans - and I have to explain the above to them constantly. Cheap, fast, hard to screw up, not easily noticed. Injuries create scar tissue, so I am thinking that the tats broke up some of the scar tissue. Also, tats hurt, so if you have an injury that hurts so much that it makes you sweat, giving yourself pain in another way in the roughly the same area can distract you from that. When I used to power lift, we used exercises to overload our CNS so that it would be ready for the shock of a heavier load. I think the tats for him were similar. If it already hurts, make it hurt a hell of a lot more for a time, and then when THAT pain is over, the original pain is diminished. I will look this back up when I get my knee tat and let you know if it works.

All of the the genetic issues mentioned in the video can still be found today, sone of that selection business. In the course of the homo sapiens history, heights have varied. The ancestors who left Africa were taller than Oetzi. They "shrank" as they moved on. Food? adaptation to environment? interbreeding with Neanderthals? Moreover, try to research "concealed advantages". I worked in zoology/genetics from 1998 to 2002. Studies showed (Chico and Lilliput drosophila mutants) demonstrated that diabetes propensity provides an advantage in times of famine. Inbreeding would be demonstrated easily if we had other remains to compare Oetzi with. As is, we can in no way be sure. I find it unlikely because if his ancestors came from Anatolia, they had crossed areas peopled with other groups with a different ancestry, and they would likely have mixed because this is the pattern for human beings.

Lactose intolerant??? Really, people didn't become lactose intolerant till the food industry started messin with our dairy, meaning putting things in it that don't belong. That certainly didn't happen when this man was alive. Interesting story besides my point.

Dairy wasn't as widespread back then. Humans are lactose intolarant by nature unless we start to regularly consume milk from a young age. There are still lactose intolerant people arount the world that weren't raised with milk products.

genetics causes diabetics. diet can be a factor, but if it runs in your family, good luck. Grains prevent against heart disease, meats directly contribute. source: I come from a family of diabetics. At least a half a dozen that are still alive. Some are fat. One lost weight and is officially not obese anymore and isnt technically diabetic anymore. She is on ozempic though.....she takes drugs to make it happen. What are your theories on thyroid regulation? Most of the people who have diabetes in my family have thyroid regulation issues. There are some who arent diabetic yet, but will be. My Aunt thought her diabetes was causing her problems but it was hashimoto's disease. Eat your meat, but learn more about Diabetes. And grains. Grains are healthy. Unless your body cant handle them. That is an exception though usually, and not the rule.

@@tommywolfe2706 No they don't. Genetics play a role in your overall health, but it's your diet and lifestyle that play the biggest part. Grass fed beef is some of the healthiest to consume, while grains are highly glycemic and highly inflammatory

@@l.t.1305 ok, carnivore diet. We can disagree, but facts remain. My sister did that 23 and me crap and she said that she cant handle gluten. That is her. I am fine with it. Meanwhile, my dad can chug milk and I cant drink a drop. Bodies are different. There are no hard rules like that. Really. Some people thrive and have lived really long lives off of grains alone. No diabetes. Carnivores dont tend to have the same track record, just saying.

@@l.t.1305 My mom is the one that was diabetic and obese. She lost the weight, but was still diabetic for a long while after.. We grew up on meat. We had meat EVERY NIGHT growing up. Steak at least 3-4 times a week, if it wasnt steak, it was meatloaf, burgers, pork chops, chicken.....meat....all the time. She was always on a "no carb" kick, even back in the 90's. She wouldnt eat cereal. Our meals always had veggies and a grain in it too....our spaghetti was half meatballs.....but she had her own special spaghetti, or would just eat the meatballs. She was the first one in my immediate family to become diabetic. The meat eater. The rest of us carb eaters? Well. I drink those "mikes harder" drinks and each tall boy has over 100 grams of sugar. I drink a few a day. That is probably my problem with sugar.

@@tommywolfe2706 Your genes are not your destiny, and your DNA does not tell the whole story. A wide range of things such as your microbiome and when or what food you eat can predict your metabolic health and your responses to food much more strongly than your genes. Your stress levels, how much you exercise, and how well you sleep also play an important role

Hello🐞🐞🐞🦜🦩🦜🐧🐧🐧🐕🐶, 🐦 God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy and Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Jesus sincerely to be God's childJohn 1:12. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on HIS name." That is great news! Will you sincerely receive Holy, Lord Jesus into your life today?
