same as others have said. so glad to finally see this and have proof it happened. began to think I had hallucinated this, and TV guides weren't what they are today and no real Internet so was left to everyone's imagination. really wished they still did stuff like this

Hallucinated? I thought it was the Event Horizon channel and we were watching a glimpse into hell.

@ScorpDaddy My dad recorded an entire tape of it. I'm pretty sure he has it still. I'll see if I can acquire it and transfer it.

Ok I posted this somewhere else but I'm posting it here too. Thank you thank you THANK YOU to whoever had the forethought to capture this. I have been telling people about this for YEARS and they look at me like I'm crazy. This was back before Dish Network and I lived in the boonies... the only way to get good TV was by putting one of the big ol' satellite dishes in your yard. One day this pops up in our guide... and 11 y/o me was glued to this for WEEKS searching for hidden messages.

I remember this perfectly...but there were alot more scenes or vignettes (idon't know what to call them) I wish we could find the whole reel...this went on for weeks before the channels launch....it was pretty spooky at times...I wonder if we could get access to them somehow?

I remember this!! I also remember them flying through space or whatever and them saying, "We are coming for you, "insert random celebrity or famous name here" They had a great launch... too bad they went to the dark side.

There were Japanese letters on the screen

I told the graphic designer they looked too much like Japanese letters, but he insisted they were alien messages. (Forgot to mention I was one of the two producers who created the 2-hour loop.)

@@joestrike8537 Was this like a punch at the sci fi signals they receive in the shows/movies? has anyone decoded it?
@joestrike8537

@@snikrepak Not a punch, just borrowing the "alien signal" trope for the video...there's nothing to decode, they're just nonsense shapes the graphic designer came up with.

I rememebr watching this every day with my brother who was fascinated by this. We loved it... the SciFi channel finally launched and the first thing they played was the original Star Wars from 77 and we were like "WTF is this?! We wanna watch all the crazy patterns and trippy effects again!" I bet the pre-launch had HUGE ratings, much larger then the actual channel itself.
