When I was in my teens and early 20s there was no doubt in my mind whatsoever that that is exactly what I would do someday. There was never any doubt in my mind that I would not go to space. I’m 63 now and spaceships and castles in the air are things that never materialized. I hope others can go where I dreamed of going.

Darrell Wilson I share your dream. I’ve always wanted nothing more than to see space and the possibilities that exist out there. I think I found myself in the sci-fi film genre in order to express that. I hope soon that such things can be brought into fruition!

It took me awhile to get over my mad at the powers that be for all the the foot-draggng .. then at Clarke and Heinlein and rest for promising we'd be there by now.. then at myself for not being able to stay young just a bit longer ... we're the generation that almost.

Oh so good. All my children are grown now and don't see much of some of them and their children. But they are not so far away. Even when I don't see them. Still...it's not far from home as another planet. That's what some of us do. Travel to distant lands. See what lies beyond the mountain. What's across the sea. It's natural I suppose we would want to see what lies out there, beyond our world here. It's always made me feel a little sad though, when those who have a need to see what's beyond and go, sometimes never to see those left behind. Or for those left behind to never those who went searching. Very nicely done. Very nice indeed.

A bit on the hamfisted side, but humankind do need a new beginning. Edit: Just to elaborate should anyone read this: The idea of having someone inexperienced and in their phase of rebellion become a member of a space travelling crew doesn't really ad up. Would've made more sense if she'd been conditioned to such a mission from infancy. On a more positive note, one can always appreciate the hard work and effort in making high quality shorts.

I've always been like this girl. I was 5 years old when I saw a space article for the first time. Of course, I could not understand what that was about but I was drawn into it. The sad part about this film that I think I've always wanted to be just like her. Now I feel I am stuck on this planet and wasting my life in routine shitstorms. One day will come and people will start to leave this planet where my body had decayed long ago. It is sad. I gotta accept it I guess. I wish I could see it.

Well, this the natural evolution of everything. The parents stay behind after the big push to their children, so they'll leave the "nest" and fly away to their destiny, until it's their turn to push away their children. It 's the way of the nature. I hope humanity someday will understand it and make the next step. P.S.: That "speck" in the beginning, reminded me of Carl Sagan...

Been happening for thousands of years like this. And before mass communication you made never hear from them again. When you got on a ship and left Europe for the Americas there was no good way to contact your family back home. Usually there was not even a way for them to know if you made it safely or if the ship went down in the middle of the ocean. My wife worries when our son, who live 10 minutes away, does not answer his phone. I can't imagine what she would be like if he lived on the other side of the world with no mass communication or if he was a light year or two out into space.

Synopsis: Unappreciative know-it-all hipster that thinks her big ideas can save the world gives her dad crap for literally changing his entire life and giving up freedom for the selfless act of being a single father. "You never understood me! You're not my real dad!" Because he isn't in prison or dead of an OD? How would your dreams of space exploration be in the welfare system and lucky if you're not in and out of the criminal justice system. Should she be able to pursue her dreams? Absolutely! But she doesn't even give him a proper goodbye. I'm left loathing the main character.

If they can travel to other solar systems in no time, then there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to see each other again. Travel and communication are also a must to make sure those distant colonies don't diverge to much or after a few thousand years they may come back as hostile space aliens who want to take their planet (earth) back because that's where they belong to, according to their ancient stories. ;) If they can't travel in no time, but say 0.1c with some time in suspended hibernation. Then it might be possible that she arrives and is greeted by Bob who had to wait many years and maybe got a flight in the 0.4c spaceship. Built a House and waited for her arrival. That would be a surprise. ;)
