What an epic little ripper! Two speed automatic transmissions in bikes are virtually unheard of. The only other 50 I know of that had a 2 speed auto was the Jawa Babetta 210 from Czechoslovakia and that probably couldn't hold a candle to this little thing.

@@LO2W Wow! I didn't know that, and I consider my area of expertise to be Eastern European bikes (I own quite a few). Just goes to show you learn something new everyday on the internet!

Interesting. Yamaha did had many small to mid size bikes with shaft drive. I have seen similar model to a honda's cub with semi automatic gears and shaft drive 50cc again. And the only 400cc cruiser with shaft drive that I know of.. Virago 400, you can still buy and ride this things. Of course in the past we had more bikes with shaft drive, examples can be BMW r26 and AWO 425 /250cc/ But both are from the 50's .. They can still be seen on retro bike gatherings here in Europe. p.s. I did remember that Moto Guzzi had the V35 /350cc/ variant engine on few bikes too.. Sorry for the long comment, but just love shaft drives. Then are rarely seen now days

It looks good, Yamaha should bring this design back as electric bicycle.

Where did you find the basket, or did it come with it? Very useful spring, can you share the measurements (L,W,H) and mounting location/hardware size? Thanks..

Following this post I'm also having issues finding a proper basket for mine

I'm not sure where the basket came from sadly! The owner is on Facebook as "The unusual adventures of the Beatnik Bedouin"
