Winding up 180 degrees or more lengthens the time it takes to release the puck, quick releases score goals. Shoulder height or just a little more is all that is necessary

***** it does when theres a guy coming out to block your shot. also the longer the release the more time the goalie has to prepare
@t_kups8309

+ttowindo78 The distance is so long that the goalie has more than enough time anyways. Sometimes it's actually harder to react when the shot takes a long time, I don't know why. Also, when you're shooting a one-timer, the stick hits the puck at the same time no matter what. Trust me, I'm a goalie.

If you can't get a fast and accurate slap shot with waist height wind up then don't even think about a shoulder or above shoulder wind up. Start small and get that accuracy with power. Then work your way up for more. To the waist or a little bit above results in a much faster release and fools the goalie too.
@BradFriday

Not with a slap shot. The wind up doesn't matter to a goalie. You're not fooling him by cutting off your wind up at the knee. A goalie reads the release of the puck off of your stick, which if we're talking about slap shots is the exact same weather your windup is 180 or 60 degrees. If you have space and time to do a full wind up, do it, you want as much velocity on that puck as possible from the blue line. Snap shots are an entirely different story though.

Late but I'm gonna say that's a no. Bauer is one of the few companies that uses flex numbers that aren't multiples of 5. Pretty much all of these companies run 72, 77, 87, 102. Unless you got it custom made (which I doubt since they only make custom flex sticks for the pros), you didn't have a 92 flex. Maybe you were looking at the P92 which is one of Bauer's curves and would be the curve on the blade of your stick.

i think the weight of the puck is what flexes the stick. in golf when you tee off the ball flexes the shaft of the club. i think leaning on your stick just messes up your shot.

This Jay Ingram cat has horrible balance, and can't even STAND properly, ...never mind shoot the puck. He's also kidding himself if he thought that his hitting the target occasionally meant he was getting any good at shooting the puck. He's always OFF Balance, BEFORE, DURING & AFTER his shots. Poor skaters make lousy Hockey players. Skating is the most important skill.

@hyracatherium

No. A newton is a measurement of force as a pound is as well. 1 Newton is = 1 kg*m/s^2. 1 pound = 1 slug*ft/s^2. In any case 1 N = 0.22 lbs. They are not equivalent.
