I've done some research on the net and as far as I can find these are the weight conversions. Please note I have not made this recipe as yet. Scottish Drop Scones Ingredients: 8oz / 225g or 2 cups (US) of SR flour 1.5oz / 45g or 2 level tbsp (US) caster sugar - this is a sugar which is finer than granulated sugar but not as fine as icing or powdered sugar 1 level tsp bicarbonate of soda / baking soda 2 level tsp cream of tartar 1 egg 220ml / 7.5fl oz milk 2tsp cooking (bland) oil Method: Put your girdle / frying pan onto a medium heat and leave to get hot whilst you make the batter. Sift dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Add egg, milk and oil and mix together until well combined and smooth. This will create a thickish but droppable batter. Lightly oil your pan before adding the batter and again between each new batch. Taking a normal spoon from the cutlery drawer (one you would eat your dessert with rather than stir your drink with) and drop separate spoonfuls around your pan. Cook for 1.5 minutes on each side. Once cooked remove from the pan and lay on one half of a clean tea towel. Flip the other half of the tea towel over the drop scones to cover. Continue to cook in batches until all the batter is used up. Serve topped with butter and jam. Enjoy. If you like this recipe please give a thumbs up to Helen for sharing. Thanks.
