Short promotional video meeting with both mentors and young people involed with Move On Mentoring Programme Glasgow hearing their thoughts on the mentoring and befriending services the charity provides access to. This video was comissioned as part of a set of videos packaged together by the Scottish Mentoring Network which I helped to film and edit while I was a student studying Film, Television and Video Production at Edinburgh Napier University.
In this short video we hear about their experiencs, asked them what attracted them to the mentoring scheme, heard what they feels the benefits of mentoring are and finding out how young people work with their individual mentors.

Move On Glasgow supports young vulnerable people including those who have been affected by homelessness helping them to take ownership of their lives and achieve their goals and aspirations. The charity provides one to one support including mentoring, personal development, helping young people boost their employability skills including providing them with work opportunities. Young menteees also can gain qualifications and wider access to support while in full-time work.
I remember finding it difficult to do certain things myself growing up as a teenager not having much confidence so I am happy to see a charity like Move On exist where it's definitely something I could and would have loved to have gotten involved with more and benefited from.
Move On was setup in 1997 funded partially from Scotland's Big Issue to provide a number of different services for individuals impacted by homelessness. One of the first activities the charity got involved with was providing housing accommodation and support for those homeless.
The Scottish Mentoring Network was setup as a membership body linked with mentoring projects across Scotland and has a purpose to support recognition and growth in mentoring practices. The body currently provides a range of services to mentoring co-ordinators and mentors which includes membership support, training, events and collaboration with key stakeholders. The body aims to support it's members.
Move On collaborates in partnership with several different organisations across the UK including Bethany, Capital City Partnership, City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Cyrenians, FARE, FareShareUK, Fresh Start, Glasgow City Council, Impact Arts, Rock Trust and Venture Trust.
Moreover Move On receives support from many other fantastic organisations which includes The Rozelle Trust, Stewart Investors, Zurich, The City of Edinburgh Council, Celtic FC Foundation Football for Good, Glasgow City Council, DWF Foundation, Life Changes Trust, Inspiring Scotland, Claremont Food and Wine, Intandem Mentoring Scotland's young people, Community Fund, MCY Mechant City Yoga, SCSA, Scottish Book Trust, The Trades House of Glasgow, Scottish Government and STV's Children's appeal.
The charity gains support from a number of trusts as well which includes the Bellahouston Bequest, James Wood Bequest Funds, John Watson's Trust, KPE4 Charitable Trust, Miss A M Pilkngton Trust, Nancie Massey Charitable Trust and Tabhair Charitable Trust.
