Thank you Scott and Jac for being so honest about your relationship. I totally understand where Jac is coming from (been there done that) and it sucks feeling like that but also projecting that onto other people and potentially ruining relationships because of irrational insecurities. Most couples on the internet try to portray this 'perfect' relationship so to see you guys being so open and real is such a breath of fresh air.

Jac is so absolutely on point! I work as a social worker on an inpatient mental health unit (a locked psych ward) in Florida. Mental health is constantly declining yet no more government funding or resources are being provided for mental health providers. So yes, we struggle to pay our bills, we struggle with our own mental health as a result of not enough resources available for those who don’t have endless amounts of money and insurance. It’s so sad.

Hi ya'll! I appreciate your honest conversation about mental health and therapy. I do believe this helps to destigmatize going to therapy. I am a psychologist (but not a therapist) and I work with young adults in a college setting who are struggling with their mental health. I hate that this is a thing, and unfortunately, I am in the same boat. I truly believe that this is truly the number 1 issue in this country. Even if you have health insurance. That shit doesn't cover MENTAL health. SO many people in the country are so mentally unstable they do irrational things, can't keep relationships, can't be faithful, and just aren't happy. People are depressed, insecure, and feeling crazy. They get sad and spiral in it and don't even want to live anymore. And then they do scary things not only to themselves but others as well... there would be alot less murders and suicides, and more happiness... if mental health care was more accessible...

Painful to watch tbh. As a 47 year old woman who has survived years of abuse….Jac, he will always blame you or twist it to make you think you’re doing something wrong. I’ve watched this relationship from the start. He’s never going to change. Spoiled little boy who takes out his failures on others and blames others for everything. You are such a gem and I hope your therapist helps you see how toxic he is…

I understand where you are coming from, but Scott could not be more supportive of me and the anxiety that I’ve been feeling. There’s a lot more than just this conversation we had. I have been severely struggling with mixing reality with social media. Constantly caring so much what people think of me and the relationships in my life that then I project those worries into our relationship. So when Scott has a bad day, even though it has nothing to do with me, I harass him to talk to me until it has become my problem too. Which is so unfair. And I promise you, he doesn’t take his failures and make them everyone else’s fault. He is the first person to beat himself up for what’s going on in his life. And he’s also the first person to make sure I am okay and taking care of myself, even when he is struggling. I have been in many abusive relationships, and Scott is the first partner that I truly see as my partner. We can talk through everything together. We just needed to learn how each of us handle stress and anxiety. Scott has made me feel so comfortable and confident with expressing myself and how I feel without fear of any judgement. No matter how upset we may get, he ALWAYS hugs me and tells me it’s going to be okay, even if it doesn’t feel that way yet. I appreciate you looking out for me, I truly do, but I can assure you, if I didn’t have Scott in my corner, I would not be doing half of the things I’m currently doing to help myself work through my anxiety and depression.

I’m curious to know if her love language to receive from you is positive affirmations and if his is gifts/acts of service to give? The thought you always put into gifts/service prior to this she took as affirmation from you and then it was different on her birthday so that affirmation wasn’t there? I don’t take it as being spoiled at all, just maybe how she has felt most cared for by you because that’s how you best express your feelings? Good talk, I enjoyed listening!!

You spoiled her bro! (not a healthy thing to do) she was so used to getting gifts after gifts and the time you didn’t give her a solid gift she freaked out. It’s like that one episode on The Office where Jim was feeding Dwight a tic Tac to a sound of a bell 🔔 Jim would repeat this daily to the point where Dwight would reach out to get a tic tac every time he would hear the bell. (I’m pretty sure you seen the episode and know what I mean) my point is she got used to this type of behavior of getting gifts that when she didn’t she freaked out and didn’t know how to react.
