I grew up in Memphis and was able to go to one of these tapings as a kid. My Aunt went on a few dates with Lawlor. He invited us and I will tell you that the funniest thing I saw was old ladies hitting the wrestlers on the head with their canes and umbrellas. They were cussing at the wrestlers. It was hilarious. The old ladies were scarier than the matches.😊

I would have absolutely loved to have been at one of those tapings.... even here in Rochester, NY New York in the old days we used to see older ladies Jewel pieces of soap bars into the ring of the Valiant Brothers.... but I have to tell you the Mid-South wrestling was great and completely pure and unadulterated straight from the hip and very little rehearsing.... they sure could roll in that ring.... glad your mom dated the king!🤴

Yeah the better wrestling era with more real moves and less gimmicks and lots of actual wrestling but still had matches predetermined or scripted if would generate more viewers and interest was 1983-1999 and predominantly in WCW/NWA/AWA trifecta before being bought out in early 2000s by then WWF now WWE. Also what made WCW more attractive and popular or favorable over then WWF, you didn’t have to get PPV to see kick ass bad ass awesome matches and rivalries settled or cranked up! WWE then WWF always made you get PPV most of the time but not always to see anything really entertaining or decent. Now this kind of wrestling has never been really legit and not staged; but in early 80s to late 90s, the fake moves mixed with real moves and non-scripted moves were real and made you believe in it more and enjoy it plus legitimately true hate or rivalries existed in WCW/NWA/AWA than then WWF now WWE.

ah mecorp Scotty focused on the gym at the time to stay away from the bars. It wasn't until he started hanging around Pac, Nash, and Michaels that his demons started to become a real issue. Once he went to WCW the wheels fell off completely. There was nothing stopping him from unraveling. Even he has admitted that Vince never would have allowed him to get as bad as he got in WCW. He would have looked after him. Glad he finally cleaned up, even if it's all these years later. Hell of a talent.

Sam Bass, The Nasty Boys, Brickhouse Brown, & Pat Tanaka vs. Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Rocky Johnson, & Scott Hall in '87! Ahh...this was the good ole pre-Ted Turner and pre-Vince McMahon cable-years in the nostalgic Mid-South wrestling territory. I Grew up watching Lance Russell & Dave Brown every Saturday morning. Good stuff still👍

You never realized how big Scott was until you look at this. Huge, strong as an ox, and very tall. These were, and still are the good ole days.

@@slabbusterrtr7690 not to mention he always could pass for Rick Ride's Bigger, more massive older/younger brother.

I can not believe all these guys are still alive. Sad but even a 10 year old clip with so many people, find a few that have passed.

If Lawler said "you couldn"t melt that chocolate drop and pour him on me" today....people would call him a racist and demand that the WWE fire him.
