I love this song and I love it because during ww1 this guy named Daniel Logan laidlaw played the song and then he marched up and down the trench line and then the 7th battalion of the kings own Scottish Borders marched out of the trenches and he continued to play until he was wounded and as a result of this heroic deed he was awarded the Victoria cross and besides him there was only one other bagpiper to receive the victoria cross during ww1 and his name is James Cleland Richardson

I love hearing this tune with massed pipes. I’m not Scottish, but this makes my heart burst!

The “Auld alliance” hasn’t existed since the treaty of Edinburgh in 1560
