Jaffa cakes are cakes. It went to court to determine because in the UK there is no tax applied to cakes (essential item :) ) but biscuits(cookies) are taxed. So they had a legal ruling determined and do not need to charge tax for them. They were determined to be cakes because if you leave a cake out it becomes hard as it loses moisture. If you leave a biscuit(cookie) out it becomes soft as it takes on moisture from the air. Jaffa Cakes become hard when left out and therefore are cake.
@CallumIsRaving

They also scaled it up to the size of a proper cake to show it is clearly a small cake and not a biscuit.. :)

To be honest, it is a bit difficult to separate the food from Northumberland with Scotland... we probably eat more haggis on Burns night here than they do in Scotland. If you don't like haggis throw a bit more whisky over it... and drink a bit more while you are at it - lol. Personally, although not the traditional way to cook haggis... we did a taste test using different methods of cooking when I lived in Fife... and I found deep fried haggis to be by far the best :)

Basic rule: cakes get more solid when they go stale, biscuits get softer when they go stale. So Jaffa Cakes are cakes. Marmite is spread thinly on buttered toast.

I've had that particular brand of tablet at the start before, it's not proper tablet. It's soft and has a different taste, it's more like fudge than tablet. Tablet should be hard and brittle, it should be able to crumble if you squeeze it in your fingers, like a biscuit.

A court determined that they were cakes. The legal definition ended up being that stale cakes go hard whilst stale biscuits go soft. Lol

we are from scotland! we have made a video where we try american foods! loved the video heres what I think of the foods: Tablet and macaroon are awesome! everyone eats shortbread not just old people I love it! Most people eat oatcakes with cheese and other things. Teacakes and jaffa cakes are my favourite things ever! :D Never tried the crips but I've heard lots about them. I don't like marmite (no one eats it by the spoon!), irn bru, caramel wafers, jelly babies or haribo! And i think crunchie, curly wurly, dairy milk, double decker, fudge and areo are fantastic!

Thanks for watching my video. I've watched your video in the past, but I will have to rewatch it and comment on the things you've tried as well. There is an Irish store in my town that I can get stuff straight from Ireland anything that you recommend?

haggis is a bit like sausage but has oats in it. Jaffa cakes are orange flavoured. Marmite is 11% salt you put a little bit on toast with butter it's pretty nice.

And sorry. but Buckfast isn't a Scottish drink. it's an English cheep wine. it's disgusting 😂 it's only known to be drank in scotland as it used to be really cheep and neds (non - educated delinquents) would buy it. then because sales in Buckfast went up the price is now at the same price as normal wine

To find out how much we like Marmite here: Marmite are the only product to launch a successful advertising based on people absolutely hating it. It's a biproduct of beer production.

Homemade tablet is way better than store bought. Also Macaroon bars that are store bought have bread crumbs on the outside to mimic coconut, the filling is fondant. When made at home the fondant is made with potatoes and icing sugar.
