Got more rare line cuts around? This makes you appreciate the process that much more.

Thank you for uploading this, Scrabble Showdown was a big part of my childhood. It's nice to see some unreleased footage.

This is really cool to see! Gives you a lot of insight into the process! Also I think might be a never before seen episode of this show! I don't think this was made into a production episode, I can't find any sign of this episode anywhere, even in the known pilots!

@@WinkMartindaleGames Hi. I am a real game show fan and would like to know if you could please try and upload $20,000 Pyramid episodes originally aired on ABC( episodes#170-174). More requests will be coming soon.

14:59 Contestants had to put every ounce of strength into that plunger. This show kept elements of the classic 80's show and somehow made some improvements to it. In the original show the main round didn't build off of the 5th word when they needed a 6th word. Understanding those extra clues were probably from a shared set of clues that weren't always needed, I never understood why they just didn't have a 6th and 7th clue ready for the round if needed.

The theme reminds me of Netherlands Lingo from the late 90s-2000s.

Yeah, sort of. If you're talking game shows specifically. There are some shows that are live-to-tape. Particularly game shows with a live audience (and most pre-taped talkshows are filmed this way too). And to keep up audience morale and the momentum going, there's very few cuts, and it's pretty much shown the same way it's taped. And if the show is a half-hour, they tape for roughly a half hour, and use the commercial breaks to adjust things. The audience is very pivotal in those shows, because it's hard to get a bunch of people to care about some people on stage they dont know. And if you keep things dragging on, the audience will turn on you. And that's also why most of those shows are hosted by comedians. Not only are they famous, so the audience will have a vested interest in seeing a celebrity. But they can also use their improv skills to keep the audience entertained during those moments when they might need to stop, like if theres technical difficulties. However with shows without an audience, there can be many, many cuts, and stoppages, and they can take hours to film a single episode.

@@joeybaseball7352 I'm not aware of any current national game shows that are literally live-to-tape. Some long-running ones like Jeopardy! and The Price is Right used to be produced live-to-tape (with some allowance to correct major errors in post), but there's always some editing these days.

Parents are knocking out the letters. Fun 😅. Edit: Oh wait, 2 rounds of knockout. Wonder why they didn’t keep that?. ‘Our home audience can see how much time is left’. Not this time. Lol 😄

Just incase the game glitched out and showed an answer while they were reseting. Jeopardy does the same thing during commercial breaks.

It’s common in a game show to have contestants turn away from the board when there’s a hold in the middle of the round. If something accidentally pops up on the display that could unfairly help the contestant, they won’t see it.

I went to a taping of Wheel of Fortune and when there are “technical issues/glitches” they’ll ask the contestants to turn around and face away from the board

Even if it flashed on the board for a split-second, so fast that nobody could've possibly seen it, that's a potential lawsuit right there. Ever since the quiz show scandals, producers have been so paranoid of cheating. And any slight advantage something thinks someone got, can result in a lawsuit. The Price is Right banned Ted Slauson, even though he never cheated. And not only did Press Your Luck "retire" Michael Larson (in Press Your Luck, the winning contestant returns for the next episode, similar to Jeopardy), they also refused to give him his earnings. It wasn't until they had several lawyers pick through all the rules with a fine toothed comb, trying to find any possible loophole to not him his earned cash prize. But after several attempts, it was determined that he didn't cheat, and only then were they forced to pay up.

Another reason (especially in shows where the puzzle stays in view) is that contestants can study the puzzle and can get the advantage of a few more seconds (or a minute or so) of extra time.
