Gandy and Sourpuss did quite a few war-related cartoons.

the WW2 scrap drives is why stuffs like metal toys made before WW2 are highly collectable now!

There were little metal cars and trucks and things when I was a little kid in the late 1940s and early 50s. I imagine there were more metal toys before the war though. And I think there may have been a lot of lead in the mixture.

Another "reminder" during World War II that raw materials were necessary for the "war front"- and that EVERYONE was expected to donate to [and/or organize] "scrap metal drives".....

My Pastor said when he was a child, he watched those planes flying... "Over there!"... toward England, ALL DAY LONG! If ANYTHING, that could have caused the Saints to believe it was Rapture time. However, the longsuffering of God is Salvation! GLORY! "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackneas, but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:8-9!

they are still using vickers machine guns?

They're still a few in use today, not many but a few. A couple years ago I ran across a site looking for 'obsolete' gun parts & they had standing orders for parts for that age of MG. They were Tough guns, as long as you kept water in the jacket they'd keep firing as long as they had ammo. A friend of mine used to have a pic of him in 'Nam standing over one that the VC had been using. They may not be the latest & greatest but they're Still good workman's tools & can do the job.

The British used them up through the early 1960s. The Americans had the water cooled browning .30 caliber.

This "Gandy Goose" cartoon, released in 1943, was shown before the 20th Century Fox live-action film in black-and-white, "Time to Kill" (1942), at a theater near you.
