A friend loaned me a scraper blade to shape the roads around here after the rains of winter washed everything out. It has been sitting in his yard for probably 10 years, so it was all rusted out and sloppy. It worked "fine" for the roads, but I want to fix it up a bit before I bring it back to him. It needs new hardware, a bunch of grinding, some weld mending, and a thick coat of paint to cover up the problems.
I got the blade itself off of the contraption by breaking off or cutting the bolts. Now I need to get the blade mount (the part that rolls the blade) off, and it's a pretty large bolt. I had to buy a cheapo 3/4" driver and socket set for the 1-7/8" head (though it might be a metric bolt ), and it was seized on. Some WD-40 and leverage does the trick, though. The hardest part was stabilizing the whole thing, but I got it with the tractor forks, a pallet, and a ratchet strap.
My batteries died before I got to it, but I also got the vertical tube off the horizontal. The whole WD-40 and leverage trick didn't work, though, so I had to cut it off with an angle grinder.
Next up is the grinding, which no one wants to watch. I'll pick back up when I'm doing some welding on it.
