How To Lubricate Your Your Brakes to Extend Brake Life - • Extend Your Brake Life...
Does your car make the same noises as mine? Then it's time for new brakes! Over time, your brake pads will wear down and eventually, they will start making loud noises that may be described as scraping, squeaking, or squealing sound. This is because your brake pads have a wear indicator that comes in contact with the rotor once the pad life has diminished and begins vibrating at a very loud high frequency.
It's also important to keep your brakes lubricated for maximum brake life and performance. The caliper slide pins allow the caliper to slide freely, just like the pad retainers allow the pads to move freely. If you don't lubricate your brakes, these components can get stuck which can result in accelerated and uneven brake wear and even reduce braking performance which can be a safety hazard. In my opinion, this should be done every 2 years for the average driver who travels roughly 15,000 miles per year. Doing so could result in your brakes lasting over 100,000 miles!
