Idk why KZitem thought I'd be into watching a guy rip a piano apart, but Im here for music trivia. Journey - Don't Stop Believing Bruce Hornsby - The Way It Is ??? REO Speedwagon - Keep on Loving You ??? Marc Cohn - Walking in Memphis ??? ??? ??? ??? Elton John- Tiny Dancer Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles Hoagy Carmichael- Heart and Soul Journey - Don't Stop Believing (again) I did much worse than I expected... Some of them are right at the edge of my memory, just outta my grasp. A couple had me completely stumped

You should contact a luthier about the sound board. 60+ year old Sitka spruce would be great for acoustic guitars

I'm not sure which wood is which. I kept some frim the cabinet. Just watched a kid make a guitar from copper wire. He ended up making a tin alloy for flowability. Cool to see but pretty impractical.

I scrapped one and the high note strings were copper wound iron strings, got #3 for them looking back i wish i had put the cords into a vise and tried to pull the iron out. was a learning curve and lots of fun would most likely do it again

I did notice that they appeared as such. It wouldn't have been the best use of my time but would have been interesting. The piano also had a keyboard cover lock. I didn't know what it was or what the parts were. Had I taken it off it would have brought $15 on ebay.

For the love of God, stop destroying beautiful old pianos!!! Refinish, and re-purposed the cabinet!

@@jondavidcoursey541 appreciated. This had a long life in a school. They were happy I bought it or they would have had to pay to get rid of it. I think they make new pianos every day somewhere...

UK piano tech here. This happens every day, I get at least fifty calls from people wanting rid of their old acoustic piano for nothing for every enquiry from people wishing to buy one. You might as well say stop scrapping beautiful and perfectly good 35mm cameras.

@@scottcarson3004 They build new ones every day. Certainly, there are some worthy of saving. Not an old school piano.

@@thewayidoit8895 That's true, but the market has shrunk to such an extent that restorations are only worthwhile nowadays if it's a top German maker or the piano has a sentimental value for it's owner, (..."it was my grandfather's piano..." etc.) We used to restore all sorts when I started out fifty years ago which would be scrapped today without a second thought.

what did you use to remove the screws around which The piano wires are wound. and....is the backboard screwed to gether or glued together.....i cand get anyone to move the harp. what would you use to saw the harp into portable piecs

I actually burned the wood rather than remove the pegs. They could be removed with a slide hammer. The entire wood backboard is glued together, I cut it to save some of the wood and burned the rest. To cut the harp I'd either use a Sawzall or cutoff wheel on a Corded 4" grinder.

You can remove the tuning pins using an electric screwdriver and a proper star tip (can be easily found online).

How much did you get for scrap metal?

$13.20 not really worth it. I sold the pedals also. There was a keyboard cover lock I could have sold @$15 but didn't realize it until too late. Ultimately, it was fun and it didn't cost me anything.

you did not have to loosen the strings first before cutting? I thought that would be dangerous?
