That is one cob webby TV. I've never come across one that bad. When I scrap these, I always keep a couple of the screws so I can close the housing back up again. I can either take them to the transfer station a couple at a time or leave them out curb side on bulk item pick up days. One of these days I'll I'm going to test myself scrapping one curb side instead of bringing it home. That should be real interesting. Kind of like a speed scrap. Thanks for sharing Okie.

that tv came out of a house that had stuff piled up all through the house and a path from room to room, an old lady had to move stuff around to get her cook stove out then move more to get her ice box out, and checking the mileage on my truck she was about 20 miles out of my 50 mile range. but she needed someone to help her out. i picked up almost 3 55 gal drums of 1 pound propane bottles she had in a pile outside that she used to heat the house with, it was a mess, i had a good load truck and trailer load when i left. she was a hoarder for sure

@@Okiescrapper amazing that she let you take anything. Most hoarders have a serious issue with anyone touching much less taking their stuff. I've done a couple hoarder houses - after they passed and their children needed help. As scrappers we must constantly be careful we don't fall into this syndrome.

Whats the best way to get rid of the glass screen when you're done? I have a bunch of old tv's and monitors.

here in Oklahoma I can just put them in the dumpster, other country's and states may have different rules on them, you may have to ask other scrappers in your area, or call your trash company or land fill and ask how to dispose of them

@@Okiescrapper Heh yeah different rules for sure. No electronics what so ever allowed in trash or landfills. CRT's are treated like the most toxic thing ever made in PA. I called around. I was told I have to store them until the laws are changed and told to write my state Representative to ask them to change the laws. LOL That sucks cause I just moved to place with a garage, Now I have to fill it up with TV's and Electronics.

@@shanooby4359 you may check about hazardous waste collection, at times most community's have a time that you can get rid of hazardous waste, like paint, household chemicals. they may take them then. I think there is lead in the picture tube. you may check into the guys that do lead or asbestos clean up . a hazardous waste dump

@@shanooby4359 I live in southeast Pennsylvania and we have to physically take them to our municipal building and they have e-waste dumpsters its like getting rid of radioactive material when it's time to get rid of them definitely not worth the time for that little bit of copper on that yolk

I hear some places charge you to take them. you can always drop them at a donation box. lol just kidding, if you have to pay to get rid of them then a guy would have to charge to pick them up, here I put them in my dumpster, and they haven't said anything yet.

Discharging a crt to the ground does nothing it needs to be discharged to the metal wire that goes behind the tube on most crt tv's. I know this because I worked in the t.v. repair industry in Michigan lol

Cooper bell that's what I was wondering if that was the best thing to grab. Do you take apart the bell or leave as is once you pull it out? Thank you much :)
