With ork stuff you want maximum texture. Cable tie bits can make a good vents for details. Q-tip rods and the pipe from hand soap bottles are good pipes. The best thing i find is plasticard "Squares" with the edges hacked at for the texture. Ice cream tub is a good place to get such plasticard. The bottom non-slip surface of plastic picnik plates are good as well.

Bill, I just watched your hiatus video and just wanted to drop you a quick note and say, "take all the time you need🤗". You have been a tremendous source of inspiration for me and I have built and played with a ton of your tiles and ideas. I entered your airship contest a while back and you sent me a set of your sewer and cave tiles as a consultation prize. They are a treasured addition to my terrain and get a ton of use. Thank you again for everything you have done. You are a genuinely great human and deserve all the break you need! Be well and I will be here, ready to watch and be inspired, when you return ☺️👍

Adding checker patterns was a good idea if you don't want everything to look like a uniform red. I'd suggest adding other orky colors to the squares to break up the shapes and sell the illusion of having more detail than there is. Common "orky colors" are bright primary red, bright (almost neon) orange, turquoise, aqua blue, and yellow. Writing out ork glyphs as graffiti is quick and easy, especially if you have an airbrush.
