One of the best things about being an elder millennial is that I got to experience Scream when it first came out. There was NOTHING like it and absolutely noooooooo one was ready for that fucking first scene. My memory is trash and I'll never forget how that whole scene felt, ESPECIALLY Steve getting gutted and Casey hanging from the tree. On top of that, the revelation of two killers (and who the hell really guessed Stu was one of them, shut up I don't believe you) was totally a 'he was dead the whole time' (side note hell yeah for experiencing that one in real time as well) whopper. Just fun shit. 2 was fine-I feel sorry that it had to follow-up the original lol. I wasn't happy about my precious Buffy dying (had to watch SMG die TWICE within a year, the paaaain) and I REEEEALLY wasn't happy about Randy but I mean, who was? The first two deaths felt particularly brutal to me. Not Casey and Steve brutal, but seriously impactful in a different way which was impressive. I still think Hallie's death is stupid af but that's okay. 3...just the silliness of it makes me nostalgic. But the ending is still stupid. I haven't seen past 3 😳 It's not necessarily been a mindful decision to NOT watch, I just never made efforts to watch them. I've watched so many reviews of all three and can really only go by that. I like the idea of the 4th one. I think Jill's motives were fucking great. I wish I had caught this one unspoiled. 5...doesn't look good to me. But at least part of that can be because it's the next generation. Where's my sky to shake my fist at. Also, Dewey 😤 Look, I get well enough that it 'needed' to happen. But the reason HOW it happened was fucking dumb. It was dumb when it happened with Hallie in 3 (close enough) and it was especially offensive to kill off a legacy character like that. At least with Randy with it being in the middle of the day with plenty of people around it was far less expected. Also the stuff with Billy looks stupid af but maybe it's better in the moment. I've yet to watch any review that liked the killer reveals at the end of 6, but from my extremely limited perspective, I thought it kinda worked. I kind of wish I had watched this one unspoiled as well, just to see if I would've guessed anything and/or fallen for Quinn's fake-out death. Maybe this means I should just start watching them unspoiled again lol. Really this comment was just supposed to emphasize how fucking epic it was to experience the original Scream in real time but here we are 💖
