This is a song I wrote about the town where I spent my first dozen years. Mt Airy, Md. It's an old song I like to revisit because I remember how those years felt when I play it.

Screen Porch
Drives slow on down the street off to the grocery store
Tissues in the backseat more down on the floor
These days it’s all she goes out for
Drives a chevy Malibu they bought in 65
It was brand new sat still most of the time
This car has aged so well so why haven’t I
Summers flip like frames in a cartoon
On a screen porch I’ll tell you bout a lonesome old lady
Still summer nights like these fireflies and rain
Mint juleps and tall stories ma hold on to the train
Two boys out in the backyard finished up on the wing
Circle round and the walnut groans like swing sets will sing
The neighbor’s cat is watching from the windowpane
Summers flip like frames in a cartoon
On a screen porch I’ll tell you bout a lonesome old lady
Old lady said goodbye to her chevy malibu
Bought in 65 back then it was brand new
She’s with her husband again
The screen door on her empty porch is swinging in the wind
