This video is an excerpt of the one-hour conversation with screenwriter and Academy Award-winning sound designer Randy Thom.
We talk about his work on his award-winning films The Right Stuff and The Incredibles, and about the brilliant sound work Walter Murch did for Francis Ford Coppola on Apocalypse Now and The Godfather.
Randy also shares some tricks on how to improve a screenplay by being more aware of writing for sound, or 'giving your characters ears'.
