Yes it is Brian Doyle Murray, playing his father is his real life brother and his brother was played by his other brother John Murrey, who was pretty good in Moving Violations. Brian Doyle has a pretty good number of other good movies.

Frank's mean dad when he was a kid was actually Bill Murray's older brother. Also, his brother in this where he gave the VCR to is actually his younger brother. They kept it in the family. Kinda cool.

Carol Cane plays the 2nd ghost, and is fantastic in that role. Cane also was in The Princess Bride, She played the (heavily made-up) wife of Miracle Max, where Indigo and Fezzik take Wesley for some "magic".

She steals the show but didn't enjoy her experience making the film as she tired of having to repeatedly hit Murray. She actually gave him a minor injury to his lip at one point and it delayed filming.

When I was a teenager in Hollywood, California, my best friend at the time was the son of some entertainment industry people. His father was an actor, director and he directed this movie called The Mafu Cage. Carol Cane played the crazy sister in that film. His stepfather was a musician, and he did the musical score for both Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and A Star is Born, with Barbra Streisand. Back earlier he played the piano at the end of a famous tv show called All in the Family. I got to hang out at their house all the time for about a 5-year span until we all went our own ways. Great memories from back then in the seventies

16:00 "I'm sorry. You know, I thought you were Richard Pryor?" That's a pretty cruel line. Richard Pryor was a very talented comedian and screenwriter for many years. Once, he caught himself on fire while on a crack-cocaine binge. RIP Richard!
@dabe1971
Жыл бұрын
That's often cited as an ad-lib but the reality is it was a late suggested line by the effects/make up guy Tom Burman. Bill initially reacted as you and said he could never use it as it was disrespectful and he was a good friend of Pryor. But when it came to filming the scene he dropped it in regardless hence why it's often cited as something he came up with during the take. Nobody knows if Bill cleared it with Richard or if he just realised that Pryor himself used to refer to the event in his own routines so thought 'what the hell'.

Bill Murray and Bobcat Goldthwait together in the same movie? Yes, please. It's a shame they didn't work together more. This is my favorite Christmas movie. It's been mentioned many times below, Bills's brothers are in this movie. Brian Doyle-Murray appears in many of Bill's films. The Ghost of Christmas Present was the wonderful Carol Kane, from the Princess Bride and the 70s sitcom Taxi. Clair was played by Karen Allen, Marion in the Indiana Jones movies.

A couple things this one did that the original didn't are interesting additions to me. For one, it included the dead homeless man. Scrooge never had to deal with something he was too late to change, but this one shows that, no matter what he does, there is some harm that is irreparable. The other is the corruption of Claire. There's something devastating to know that you could take someone so pure and good and turn her cruel. Considering Calvin, as the Tiny Tim stand-in, gets a lesser fate in the bad future (institutionalization isn't as bad as death, after all), this does help to keep the stakes high.
@TaraTunesIn
