To anyone who thinks this speech is "lame," think again. Murray's speaking from the heart.

I agree. Some people find it 'forced' but whenever I see the film it comes across as a genuine candid TV moment - if it was real it would be on one of those greatest moments of all times shows. Bill Murray is an ad-lib expert so his skills were taken advantage of wholesale for this scene to work so well...

More than that, this film is probably as much reflective of Murray and the writers experiences of corporate film making as anything else - he knows what a downer it all is.

I think this was the best scene of the whole movie. Very touching and funny at the same time. According to Wikipedia though there is a comment of the scene: Bill Murray was concerned with how he should portray the scene, with screenplay writer Mitch Glazer telling him to follow the script. Wanting a central acting moment, however, Murray gave an emotional and manic performance, deviating from his marked positions and improvising his speech. Glazer and screenplay co-writer Michael O'Donoghue thought that the actor was suffering a mental breakdown. After he was finished, the crew applauded Murray, but O'Donoghue remarked "What was that? The Jim Jones hour?" Director Richard Donner turned and punched O'Donoghue in the arm, leaving him bruised for a week.

The ending was very awkward for me to see is when Eliot Loudermilk (played by Bobcat Goldthwait) was holding Brice (played by John Glover) and the control box staff at gunpoint as Frank (played by Bill Murray) gives out the longest speech about the spirit of Christmas. Did Eliot ordered Brice and the staff to shut up?

@Adamguy2003

Actually, here's a fun fact: Studies show that conservatives tend to greatly exceed liberals at charitable giving. We believe in caring for the needy through individual acts of freewill generosity (Just like what he''s talking about here), the left believes in doing it through mandatory wealth redistribution by the government through their corrupt and incompetent agencies. For just one example, consider post- Katrina New Orleans: While the government groups like FEMA were tripping over their own feet and doing more harm than good, it was the church groups and other independent, often conservative in nature, charitable groups that were busing in from all over the country and wading through raw sewage to get food, water, and medical supplies to the survivors.

Alex Ozzy it's a movie where his old boss that taught him how to be an uncaring monster shows up as a zombie to make him relive his past Christmases with a cab driver, current Christmases with a fairy that kicks him in the balls a lot, and the grim reaper shows him how his loving gf ends up hating the poor because of him.
