It's incredible. JD starts out by saying the hospital has a balance between who is born and who passes on. Just when they save the woman and her baby, JD beleives maybe there isn't a need for sacrifice and sometimes, hey, you just get lucky. Then, his favorite patient codes and we get this beautiful scene. And although death is ultimately tragic, even it can be beautiful in its own way.

Something that gets overlooked too is Laverne is often seen as the resident sassy, older nurse who doesnt take her job too seriously. You can see here that she doesnt walk to the patient, she sprints and you can tell by how she spoke with JD how concerned she was. It goes to show on the surface how we judge the cahracters, but how they still care nonetheless when it matters most.

This is one of my favourite episodes of Scrubs. I well up every time I see the end, and I remember the first time I watched it I actually cried at 1:49. I think her storyline sums up my entire perspective on life and death.

Loved how they had Collins songs intergraded into episodes. Day after day. This one. This show was a masterpiece. It took the role of sitcom and brought it somewhere else entirely. Knowing the characters, the flow, the subject, the audience and fan base, the talent and the integrity were strong enough, good enough, real enough and perfect enough to pull this off. To pull off breaking those walls. Other shows tried and failed with similar styles and acts. From breaking the fourth wall to having entire musicals for special episodes. It’s a risky move and a brave move and even with successful shows it is very very hard to pull off. You need more than fans, more than viewers, more than money, more than a guaranteed platform and guaranteed ratings- you need substance and depth. You need vulnerability and sincerity. This show was phenomenal. It unfortunately fell apart in the end, and because it lost the very things that made it so special and set it apart from the rest. The writers changed, the casting changed, the growth made it difficult to hold on to what once made it so unique and so special. With ratings comes money, with money comes more pressure, more interest, and more greed from those who have nothing to do with the project and who never cared until the money came in. And that’s when they see the potential, see the profits and the potential for so much more profit and they come in and make demands, take control, take over and they push this classic formula for success and for money that has been used and has been successful so many times already with so many other projects. But every once in a while you have something really special, something really beautiful and different and unique and if you try to turn it into another guaranteed money maker you will completely ruin and destroy everything that made it so special and so unique. And so it went that the hot shots came in, seized the moment, decided to guarantee them the ratings and money and growth continues and applied the same over played formula to this one of a kind show. The writers were changed, the original writers that stayed were forced to change everything, the production, the cast, the goals, the objectives and even the damn story boards were all completely remodeled and their underlining values and objectives completely changed. This sabotaged everything. This made it impossible to succeed. It would have worked for any other show. Because any other show was basic and was shits and giggles of the moment with a laugh track telling you when to laugh and a bunch of story lines to try and keep you hooked. Look at Friends. Biggest sitcoms ever. I think in the end, per episode, the actors and actresses were making anywhere from $500,000-$2M (Jennifer Anniston being the highest paid of them all, I think Phoebe’s actress being the one who made the least). Friends became popular. It became huge. It racked up ratings ans views. The hotshots saw the money and potential and they came in and did what they do. They applied that exact same formula to friends to guarantee them endless money. And it worked. Because Friends was a formula sitcom. It was basic and mediocre as far as any depth or anything past cheap laughs and entertainment (and I say that with no ill will to the show or fans, I’ve watched it before, it’s not my cup of tea but the earlier seasons were funny enough). Scrubs is a different ballgame. It’s what happens when you don’t try to be like everyone else It’s what happens when a great idea meets great minds with great creative flow and unlimited potential and guts. It’s what happen when you manage to put together the perfect team, and you don’t try to be like anyone else, you instead try to be the first of its kind and to go as far as you can and to break the mold. There was respect, camaraderie, fellowship, excitement, sincerity and love for what they were doing and creating. This show hit depths that I’ve not seen in the most dramatic of drama series, it is one of the most quoted sitcoms and majority of the quotes are ones that are of philosophical greatness and that touch on the most emotional and most difficult of human conflicts and human pain. This show made you feel, and not just a feeling of being entertained or a feeling of laughter and brief silliness- it made you feel all the dynamics of what it means to be human. It hit - on the friggin head- the fragility of life, the reality of death, the consequences of being human and loving and caring and having emotions, the consequences of fighting the nature of being human and trying to avoid pain by avoiding loving, caring and having emotions, it showed the very reality of what it means to be a doctor, a nurse, a human being working in a field that exists to help stall the inevitable----- Clearly I love this show. I could go on and on and on And so I have to force myself to stop before I end up letting an hour pass by and end up with the longest comment in youtube history. I highly doubt anyone will see or read this, and I highly doubt it will matter. But I’m still posting it. I’m still sharing it. Because it’s not about speaking in hopes that someone else will hear me. It’s about speaking because I have words to share and thoughts to form into typed out sentences. It’s about how this show that started 20 years ago, means to so much to me, someone who didn’t even know it existed until long after it’s demise, someone who only found over a decade later, because of a boy with a dirt bike and a reckless path and the way he made feel alive, he used to play this show on his laptop when we’d be laying in bed for the night, he’d play his favorite episodes before we’d drift off to sleep, this lost and angry and confused guy would fall asleep to his favorite scrub episodes every night. This show isn’t like the others. He got me into it, but long after we parted ways I continued watching old episodes of this show, looking up clips of my favorite Cox rants or my favorite episodes, finding some kind of comfort and familiarity in this already finished, already completed, already a historical piece of the past show. That is amazing and impressive and that is the definition of something special. Something amazing. Something far different and far past anything else.

That was an emotional read, clips like this one hit the nostalgic vibes hard. The show was brilliant and it's heartwarming to see such passion, to this day there hasn't been something quite like Scrubs, a show where you could laugh in one moment then be in tears the next. It was something special. It's all rather bittersweet, much like this particular clip i suppose.

That song is so mind blowing. Most of who I know are waiting for their real life to begin, while it's already on and just slipping way.

2:06 you can tell by his throw how upset Cox is that he couldn't save her. Not just an, "Oh well, win some lose some" moment. They were always consistent about how seriously he took a patient's death. Even if it was just a blip of emotion before needing to get back to work.

For me the most emotionally powerful moment of scrubs, even more than the funeral of dr cox's friend... And I usually don't like musicals... But in Italy they made a mess with the localization :|
