You're right and the answer is that Scrum isn't a methodology, it's a subset of Agile. Most get that confused.

@@webhouse2020god That's because they don't have a clear understanding of what is a framework, what is a methodology and what is a model. It's frustrating really. They should learn the basics before making videos that might confuse people.

can someone explain for me the difference between a methodology, philosophy, framework and method, please. Those are all related and used terms to describe software management approaches. Example, some people say agile is a philosophy, a approach to software development and project management (which I can understand) and others say is a methodology (which for me is the same thing - although a methodology is a term more used in a specific way). We have scrum (which as far as I knew I thought it was a approach to use "agile", that can be explained as also being a method of the agile philosophy or a framework (but now you are saying is a subset of "agile", so basically scrum is methodology based on "agile"?) We have XP, Kanbam and lean which are all based methods/approaches/frameworks to agile philosophy (notice I didnt say they are methodologies, since they don't specify a way of think/manage projects, they're only a practical way of using the agile philosophy) Did I get the picture right?

the funniest thing about this video, is scrum was always only meant as a wrapper around XP to make it more palatable to "management", by adding things like sprints and retros and daily meetings to check up on things. All of this is to say, you can do XP without scrum, but you can't do scrum without XP. Also, XP, at its heart, is a set of engineering practices. it has no notion of scrum. and as an iterative process, it has no use for phases.
