In this video, you’ll learn how to:

2. Make a fragrant and flavorful pulao with the right blend of spices.
3. Achieve the perfect texture for basmati rice.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup basmati rice
• 1 cup chickpeas (cooked or canned)
• 1 onion, finely sliced
• 2 tomatoes, chopped
• 2 green chilies, slit
• 1 bay leaf
• 1-inch cinnamon stick
• 2-3 cloves
• 2-3 cardamom pods
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• 1 tsp garam masala
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp ghee or oil
• 2 cups water or vegetable broth
• Salt to taste
• Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes.
2. Heat ghee/oil in a pan and add the whole spices.
3. Sauté onions until golden brown, then add green chilies and tomatoes.
4. Add turmeric powder and garam masala, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
5. Add chickpeas and mix well.
6. Add the drained rice and mix gently.
7. Pour in water/broth, season with salt, and cook on low heat until the rice is done.
8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
