It really helped me seeing you fail the head the first time through. I tend to give up on art when things don’t go right for me but this just goes to show sticking with it and taking your time pays off immensely. I learned a lot from this. Perseverance is key. And reusing the fail was really smart. I liked that.

I’ve had times where I hated my piece but then I just kept going and erasing what needed erasing and adding more detail and I’ve ended up making things that impressed even myself! Never ever ever give up. I have felt like ripping up so many drawings etc but I never did and they always ended up looking much better

Fascinating. I love to watch the methods and tools other sculptors use. It's especially interesting how you work with the Monster Clay compared to Cyril Roquelaine. Wonderful job m'friend. [For those who don't know about this Monster Clay, it's an oil based clay with a lot of sort of waxy properties. When it's warmed up it's soft, but when it cools it gets quite rigid - sort of like wax does. It can be melted down and reused over and over.]

I know it's Monster Clay that hardens as it cools, but I was still surprised at no armature! Looking at the comments, I'm not the only one. But it kept it soft enough and flexible for when you need to re-position this or that. Impressive! I could see a little of the struggle near the beginning, when the core of clay was still rather warm and soft, how it kept sagging. But as the Monster Clay cooled and hardened, it kept its shape better, and you could carve and add and sculpt all of the details. Using the loop tool to carve thin noodles for the veins was great! I've always wasted my time rolling out snakes; it had never occurred to me to carve out noodles with the loop tool before. Handy tip! I love how loose and easy and sculpt-y it was through the whole process, and even at the end, it was not ENTIRELY polished; still a little "dirty" with a few tool marks and evidence of its clay-ness. I dig that a lot, especially for a maquette like this. Gorgeous work!!
