Sorry at 06:00 - 07:00 I seem to have completely spaced and jumped a point, I needed to elaborate that that as ships gets bigger that tends to get smaller, and the reason the Tribal class 10% is a good example is because it's unusual, reflecting their role and duties mix but also the very different yards approach to destroyer construction, usually for ships their size(i.e. destroyer in this period) it's closer to 5% and usually the large ships the smaller it gets because there is more of a chance for the differences to even out due to their size, scale & complexity. Sorry about that.

The USN flight qualification requirements was about extra pay for lower ranks at least as much as it was to ensure that the carrier’s captain understood flying.

I have a question about the Aircraft Carrier HMS Unicorn (well, Aviation Support Ship). Did the U.S. Navy need, and have an equivalent to the Unicorn? And if so, what was it? Was it perhaps not a ship, but a "shore establishment", not based back in the US, but forward deployed.

Question, I know you talked about various doing military war planning like plan orange. Is there an example of two countries militaries getting together to do joint war planning? What would have happened if the US and UK militaries had done joint war planning in 1939 or in 1940?

Joint war planning happened between the UK & US during the 50s & 60s where SAC & Bomber Command (later Strike Command) co-ordinated their nuclear strike plans to ensure that maximum number of bombers got through.

I think you made an error at about 6 min about the tribals. You said a variance of 10 per cent and for a 1 800 ton ship it is 180 tons, but for a 27 000 tons ship it will be 2 700 tons, and a difference of 700 tons will be a difference of under 3 per cent.

Dang I forgot the line as ships gets bigger that tends to get smaller, so basically with something of Tribal class size 10% is a good example because it's unusual, reflecting their role and duties mix, usually for ships their size it's closer to 5% and the large ships the smaller it gets. Sorry about that.
