Great review there Steve, and thank you for the mention 👍. It's always good to see what somebody else thinks about this sort of test gear etc. Cheers mate John

200v may came in handy as a cheap automotive scope meter. You can see such high voltages with collapsing magnetic fields on things such as fuel injectors and even higher on ignition coil control circuits.

Looks like an improvement over the Uni-T UT-81B in many respects. While cheap scopemeters aren't necessarily particularly good meters, nor really a substitute for a proper scope - for some tasks they are very useful indeed. Whether they come in handy often enough to be worth the money is another question entirely, of course.

Ah, I've been looking forward to your review. Another interesting meter from Mutool but it's a shame they are a bit pricey and the build quality is still rather chintzy. I reviewed the previous incarnation of this meter (the MT-8206) and I am disappointed that Mustool produced this newer model with the same cheap plastic case, no rubber cowl and SMD fuse. I was hoping for some deign impovements regarding these points. Anyway, great review.

I think for electronics use the build quality is passable but at full price it's far too expensive for what it is. There's not a lot of competition for this kind of meter though. It'd be nice to see something more professional that you safely use for mains use though, especially bundled with current clamps etc.

Last time I purchased a Mustools product (multimeter) it lasted about three months before completely failing. There was no warranty since the meter, supplied by Bangood, was for the Chinese market. If you use this over any length of time it would be interesting to report back on reliability.

I have the MT8205 scope meter(was my first buy just got into electronics a year ago and love it) and noticed when the batterys are low its readings are slightly off. So it's something to watch out for in all versions of say.. P.s of being waiting for a review on this for a looong time now!!!! so brilliant👍😁

It's better then my one which is just a waveform(A.C. ONLY) with no info at all. But it has a better continuity tester than this. But if it drops in price to 30/40 euros id get it!!!

This will be good tool to toss in the backpack when doing field work but, daylight viewing quality of that reverse LCD worries me, love to get a feedback on that from you. Also it might be a good idea to design a small PCB banana to BNC converter, with proper termination, that will fit on it. Even the cheapest oscilloscope probe should work better than those low end MM probes. Good review, thank you!

I was initially interested given the price but my enthusiasm did wane after you pointed out some deficiencies. Still, a worthwhile review and I hope you can get your hands on some more capable instruments at a later date. As usual you get what you pay for. It's no Fluke as you mention. Thanks for taking the time to review it.

A VERY big issue I have with this meter is that the mA function uses the voltage input ports and not it's own dedicated port like the 10A. That means if you're measuring voltage and decide to switch to oscilloscope mode, you blow the low current fuse if you don't disconnect the leads first!! Very bad design. I will be modifying my unit to add a BNC with coax for the oscilloscope input and switch the mA port to use the former OSC port. BTW, you can use a BNC to banana jack adapter the plugs into the 10A and OSC inputs if you want to use a standard scope probe with this as the 10A shunt is at goes to ground. Nice unit otherwise.

Would love to see your thoughts on the hantek handheld DSO multimeter all in one. Beautiful color graphical display, 70 MHz, with built-in arbitrary generator and multimeter. Yes it’s about double the price but also higher bandwidth and better specs! Seems to be built extremely well, And meticulously thought out and designed. It doesn’t have the same appearance as a lot of the Chinese products.! Also would love another video updating your thoughts on the FY6900 function generator. Thanks for your great content!

Hello, I am interested in buying one of these. I don't know how to use an oscilloscope, but I would only use it to check power inverters to ensure pure sine wave inverters are indeed what they claim. Could this machine be used for that purpose?

I can't find a way to adjust the Y axis (in DC 'scope mode). Surely this basic feature exists?! There *must* be some way. (PS: first thing I did with mine is whip it open and squish some Blu Tack on that loud bastard buzzer)

Its no bad Not worth £100 i paid from Amazon for the KKmoon version The probe leads are rubbish broke after a couple of weeks very thin copper inside. The screen text could be bigger in scope mode. It only switches back on after sleep on tthe scope side which is annoying. True 3db bandwidth is more in the region of 20Mhz. Apart from that not bad prob worth as you say about £50 £60. Hold F4 at switch on to go into silence mode thank you to the other reviewer you mentioned for that. and Thank you.

When I try to use the oscilloscope function, I pick up both DC pulses and spurious AC frequencies. I have to be careful where I place the meter it just seems to pick up interference. Is this typical for this product, or have I received a defective meter?

11:19 Hi, i have a function generator similar to yours, tell me something, if i short the leads of it, might i end up destroying it? Is it short circuit protected? Same as connecting a big load. I tried to look up on my model's manual but it says nothing about it.

Tipically they are 50 ohm sources, that limits the maximum short current (you can do the calculation). No problem at all if you create a short!

@@jorditribo94 Thank you for your reply. Correct me i'm wrong but it goes up to 20Vpp, and 50ohms tells me 400mA, isn't this too much for a microcontroler to feeding the output? Or is there other component dealing with these 400mA? Am i doing the calculations wrong?

As Jordi mentioned, there are some output buffers from the unit. I wouldn't recommend shorting the output on a regular basis though.
