+Iain Bickerstaff. Thanks for your comment Iain it really is appreciated i know live baiting is favoured by commercial bass fishermen over wrecks so its definately a method for us anglers ti consider. Very effective

Should always lubricate the blood knot as can weaken with friction

I red about a rig with a big hook, and a smaller hook below, with a piece of lug or rag worm. When the pouting eats the lugworm it gets stuck and becomes the live bait to catch the bass with the bigger hook.

Yes it’s a great method ! Aka a stinger , I use it a lot so exciting when you know a whiting or pouting are on the hook. I don’t like the looseness of the top hook though and have spoken to cox and Rawl about a hook that comes as one piece - great comment thank you Daniel

Hi Andrew it all depends on the size of the bait ofcourse but I usually go for 1 or1/0

Thanks for sharing. I do wonder though. Once you have you live bait on, do you cast it out? I know the distance is minimum. But how do you get your livebait out there? Thanks

You raise a good point. Stinger rigs can be used instead (a small bait hook under a big hook) the idea being the small fish hooks itself and then becomes the livebait ready for the big fish to hook its self. However with Bass ill almost drop the live bait at my feet and its not even a cast.Theres a video on the channel that shows a mackerel being taken by a bass about 4ft out ! I supose this rig is more suitable to harbour walls at piers,. Also a pouting will still survive a moderate cast if its slow and not snatchy so some distance could be had- Bit of a compromise though.

+T.2.0 many thanks its a bit tricky to cast this rig better lobbed gently or lowered into the tide frim piers or in to gulleys. Fish close in for sure although i have used it on a kayak.

Sea Fishing Marks U.K I did see another type of live bait thing on the breakaway Facebook group, it looks quite complicated to me lol, but essentially you cast a lead all the way out and the fish follows the line all the way down!
