Ya know, up until this point I was barely taking "The Fleshmancer" seriously. When the name first came up I thought "heh, edgy much", but as the game progressed his presence and title made so much more sense as his creations actually gave a sense of unnerve. And then when he finally appeared he commanded so much *menace.* He felt like an actual threat whose stepping below his paygrade to deal with you.

@@darcsyde345 Got that right. Truly terrifying creations. Aephorul is a sick monster... One gripe I have about the story is... Who really is this azzhole? I wanna know more. Hints that he suffered some great loss in his past that turned him into the bitter pos that he is today. Does the messenger explain more? I wanna know more about this guy. His brother seems VERY scared of what he's capable of.

SPOILER ALERT, PLAY SEA OF STARS, ITS INCREDIBLE Can we also take a moment to acknowledge the absolute balls of adamantium that Garl has? He calls out Aephorul with absolutely no concern for the repercussions (though he does get resurrected later). Then he calls him out a second time, adds insult to injury by clocking Aephorul with a freaking apple, then ends the final fight by decking him with his pot lid. Even Gordon Ramsey wouldn't dare diss Garl.

@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 I mean, Aephorul is the way it is (according to the game) because Resh'an and he discovered the key for immortality, and eventually, Aephorul went jealous of the freedom of dying he wouldn't experience again, so he created the dwellers and that stuff, Resh'an isn't his brother (just in case if you think he was¡), he was his friend, and I don't know if this is real, but I saw in one comment that in The messenger (another game, same universe, 100/1000 years after the Sea of stars timeline) it's explicitly said that they were boyfriends.

This scene made my jaw drop at least three times, seeing Aephorul in the flesh for the first time, then when I realized exactly who the Acolytes and Brugaves were gonna become, then seeing Resh'an freeze time and have a casual conversation with his sassy ex-boyfriend while Garl was about to die???? Insane stuff

@@croacx Yeah there are so many connections to The Messenger! As someone who's been a fan for years and years I've never been so happy to play a new game lol. Also idk if you caught that but The Artificer is the small Blue Robe and the AI Core is the Clockwork Concierge! :D

@@croacx Aside from his name, and his fascination for golems, a few connections can be made. There's the whole Demon Crown side quest in The Messenger where you go to Forlorn Temple and kill the Demon King (the one in that game is a weak copy btw, we never see the "real" Demon King, that detail was revealed by the game's writer somewhere else) and get its Crown (which most likely belonged to the real Demon King, seeing as you hear his voice when picking it up), then give it to The Artificer so he can open a portal to Corrupted Future. This makes much more sense in retrospect now that we understand that Corrupted Future is a timeline that fell to a World Eater (see broken moon and the boss that chases you). Given that even The Shopkeeper doesn't know about Solstice Warriors and Dwellers (see her dialogue when going to Sunken Shrine), it felt odd that The Artificer had a machine ready to open a portal to a world fallen to a World Eater that specifically required the Demon Crown to function, but given his link to the Acolytes in Clockwork Castle, and Zale and Valere during Sea of Stars, this makes more sense. There were also details outside of the game, like how on the old Messenger website there was a blog post by The Artificer about him working in secret with the Clockwork Concierge, which is one more detail that's paid off in Sea of Stars.

What I really loved here is how Aephorul and Resh talk to each other while time was stopped. It doesn't come across as they hate each other, but more like old friends who disagreements tore them apart, but because they're both wise and powerful they still have mutual understand and sense of respect for each other.

I don't actually think Aephorul hates Resh'an more the opposite he is probably the only person in the multiverse he actually cares about. Like to him, their fights are disagreements between old friends and seems to treat it almost playfully
