For someone who's only just starting to get into DAW workflows: what does this news mean? That its now fully compatible with Ableton? Is Logic Pro still a good choice to use with the Seaboard?

ROLI keyboards, and many other keyboards currently available, have a type of MIDI functionality called MPE, which is essentially where each note has individual pitch bend and other various expressive controls. This means you can slide notes around independently of others, allowing you to wiggle your finger around to induce vibrato or transition smoothly between chords without taking your fingers off of the keys. In terms of this "news," there really is none. I've had access to the Ableton public beta for a while, which includes the new software synth that's being discussed in this video. Almost every single synthesizer/instrument included with Ableton is able to use MPE in this way. So Drift, the newest synth, is nothing special in that regard. The only thing that's really unique about Drift is that it's available in the free version of Ableton (Ableton Live lite), which before didn't include any synthesizers. This basically means that you will be able to utilize an MPE-capable instrument by just downloading the free version of Ableton, which is what I believe this video is advertising. As for Drift and the seaboard rise 2 being made specifically with Drift in mind, or with Drift being made specifically with the Seaboard in mind-- not really. Just because Ableton is able to use MPE doesn't mean that the Seaboard rise-- which is a single example of a mpe-capable midi controller-- was a point of focus. Ever since Ableton Live 11, all MPE-enabled midi controllers have been able to use their MPE features with Ableton, which extends to the Seaboard. As for logic pro, I believe Logic does support MPE, so yeah, it's still a great choice for using with the Seaboard, if that's the daw you prefer! I don't mean to come off as an "armchair" whatever, so sorry if I do. Hopefully, this reply was able to sufficiently answer any confusions you may have had.

My suggestion would be Roland KC-400. Sounds fabulous. Been playing it everyday since 2017 with no hiccups. Great Bass sounds. It's a keyboard amp.

Missed opportunity here.... would be MUCH and simpler if you can just plug into the mixer and go ....I absolutely hate having to use a computer and or host to control hardware and hate having to lug a computer to a gig.. The simpler the better .... They can even build a hardware brain ... They would make so much more money if people could buy a roli "brain" with built in sounds ... Sad that they have a list of compatible hardware but have None themselves.
