Greasing the CB bearing is good if you retain the 20+ year old part, which there is nothing wrong with that if the parts aren't blown. Id say, proper grease in a sealed bearing is great as well. Where i would caution builders is with “packing” them, as with many other things, grease expands when it heats up. If that seal blows the open bearings, covers, their carrier seals and oil will all become an issue. Seals may cause crowding, plastics will come apart and the ring spring retainer might chew everything to pieces as it spins. Another thing, probably wouldn't suggest spraying break cleaner on parts that should be lubed prior to installation. Which leads me to saying that the use of assembly lubricants are very important. Cheers

I have seen many counterballance bearings fail and cause block damage. I personally change them every time but I'm curious how well this lasted by repacking them?

Did the packed counter balance bearings last well when you re-packed them?

@@ProjectsPat Yes, I know what lubricates the oil pump. I thought that they put isoflex there during assembly ..now I understand..thank you very much!! On the second shaft, the bearing cage should be placed with the hole up?

I see you ordered a new crankshaft with the main bearings installed, are those roller bearings replaceable when they go bad?
@ProjectsPat

They can be replaced but you have to take the crank apart and then put it back together and balance it it's too much of a process from me so I bought a new one
