Hey man, just found your channel...I just bought one as well and a piece of advice. The one you are having is made by Sugess I think, a company in CN that buys the Venus movement from Seagull. Tianjin made its official release as well under a limited ed (5000 watches I think). That one does not have a display case back and only comes in 38mm and on a leather strap with the nato as a spare (not the other way around). Pretty much the same watch mechanically, but you might see some qualitative differences in the execution and details on the case and dial.

Hey .. thanks for the support and the comment . To my knowledge , all watches sold under the Seagull name should be or are in this case licensed by the actual company .. but then again .who knows. Thanks again

@@WatcheswithGeorge He is right. The genuine seagull 1963 does not have display case back, its stainless stell case back with serial number. Its limited production, 5500pcs in total. Its 38mm and on black leather strap with the green nato as a spare.

I cant'e help but notice a high resemblance to Merkur's Pierre Paulin TP001 case. Finally I get a good look on a polished version and I gotta say it looks bonkers. Definately that 1963 is some timepiece.

Although with the non-hacking seconds, it's not easy getting it set accurately (frantically winding it from empty just as the real time catches up with the position of where the second hand stopped), I've been REALLY impressed with the accuracy. I expected +/- 30 seconds per day at absolute best, but it's been consistently +10 seconds per day, which is FAR superior to what I expected!

@@KarmaFlight Just tried it, doesn't work, probably something to do with it having the 'Small Seconds' Subdial rather than the coaxial second hand. No massive issue. I'm not going to be ordering any time critical artillery strikes, or timing a re-entry rocket burn any time soon, I don't need to be THAT accurate LOL.

I bought my 38mm 1963 with domed Sapphire from poljot 24. I have it on a Rios light brown leather strap. It has a 51 hour power reserve. It came with a see through caseback, in a green wooden box with a big red star on it. I use it to time development of films and darkroom papers. My other watch is my Sea-gull Ocean Star diver which has the Seagull 2130 28800bph movement. The 1963 does not have Seagull on the dial, so to me it's not a Sea-gull watch. It fits in the part of my collection 'watches with Seagull movements' like my Loreo diver and my Cigadesign skeletonised watch which both have Seagull St16 automatic movement's. I have 3 vintage new old stock watches from the 1970s /1980s. They have Seagull ST5 movements, engraved casebacks, apllied Seagull logos, domed acrylic crystals and signed crowns. 36mm case size with only 10mm thickness.
