In late 2015, Dr. Eilat Mazar announced the discovery of a clay seal impression, bearing name “Hezekiah son of Ahaz, King of Judah,” found in the Ophel excavation - situated between the City of David - the place where Jerusalem Began - & the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
The seal impression, dating back some 2,700 years, affirms the existence of the Biblical King Hezekiah, who ruled from Jerusalem, and was a direct descendant of King David, and one of the Bible's most central figures.
“In the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.” (2 Kings 18:1)
