Imagine being gut punched by a bully and none of your 28 friends do nothing about it.. that sticks with you, and as a professional ball player this can affect your game in a negative way. The other huge point is what all this prevents. Think of all the intentional hbp there would be if there was never a consequence for it. NL pitchers still take at bats so you rarely see this from starters, since they'll take a ball in the back for it.

@@TheSonofabiscuit I'm hoping that NL doesn't adopt the DH, but it appears that there's intense pressure for them to do it. That brings me to another point. I fear Manfred is hurting the game with all his changes. Hopefully we get rid of the "runner on second" at the start of extra innings and hopefully no more seven innings games during doubleheaders. Last year when will smith faced soto, will smith was warming up after coming in the game. Juan soto was getting ready to come to the plate and was taking practice swings in will smiths view, and smith told soto to move so he could concentrate on his warmup tosses. Then when soto came up to hit he crushed a home run and stared will smith down. The night before this incident was the first time will smith had faced soto since then. Nolin should have been suspended from baseball for several games. A pitcher can seriously hurt a batter with a pitch. Careers have been ruined. Most errant pitches are probably not intentional, but they should be punished anyway. Hey, if you can't pitch without hitting the batter, go flip burgers somewhere. Any hit-by-a-pitch situation should cause an ejection from the game for the pitcher. And guess what, pitchers will stop hitting batters. Tight inside pitching is part of a pitchers arsenal. I'm ok with that. But if you hit the batter, cya.
@jacobflowers0529
2 жыл бұрын
The goal wasn't to injure Freddie. It was to see a message. The Braves hit Soto on purpose (or so they thought) so they hit their best player, Freddie, in return. It's how baseball polices itself.
