Logging Railroads were very prominent in Northern Arizona in the early 1900's. Although those days are long gone, you can still find remnants of the once vast timber empire.

Cover photo is of a 70 ton 3 truck Shay built for the Anaconda Copper Company of Butte, Montana. It is owned by the Arizona State RR Museum and on display at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams, Arizona lettered for the Saginaw and Manistee Lumber Company as a stand in. The lumber company owned several similar locomotives that were used in the region, but they were all scrapped.
