You don't need to enter the Census year. Just search. It will give you everything. You did a GREAT job.

True. You don't need to, but sometimes it helps as a filter. Thanks for watching.

I think this video was just fine the way you did it. I checked the surviving 1890 census records and it doesn't appear that any of them are in areas where our families lived. So, I keep digging and hoping that I can find something that will unlock Alien Grandma's mystery parents for me. She's very good at hide-and-seek, that's for sure! Regarding "same house" and "same place" in the 1940 census, "same house" was used if they were in the same house as they were in during 1935. "Same place" means a different house, but in the same town. Keep up the good work!

You're very welcome. Another census related video that might interest you includes this one about using early census records to tackle genealogy brick walls. kzitem.info/news/bejne/k5B93myDoKWog3Y

Many of four ancestors have this issue. A headstone is a valid option to help decide which name to use. Just be sure to tell your relatives why you chose that one.

Another keeper. I have a question about census records. It has been my experience that it's family first, then non immediate family and then boarders. It's not cut in stone, but I've read a lot of censuses and that is what I have seen.

Based on the enumerator instructions, that's likely the case. Every census has a set of instructions that should be followed by the recorder. They're available on the Census.Gov website.

I'm a real novice when it comes to using KZitem. How can I participate in one of your live sessions? I have a few questions. I watched the video about where to write your history, but the video was part of a live stream that only talked about publishing/shipping pricing. Thanks for your help!

Why is it that when my ancestors are missing from census records, it's always the 1840 or 1860 census'?

Honestly, there are so many reasons. But I feel your pain.
