I don't like bright harvest, because if you run out of oil by suddenly using more power elsewhere on your island, you break entire production chains for things that are otherwise easy to make. It isn't hard to plop down grain fields as you need them. Space isn't an issue in this game. You can always settle another island and put farms there. Easily one of the dumbest DLC's they made.

I've never once run out of oil because you should know how many oil wells it takes to power a power plant or a fuel station. in the campaign you get 4 oil wells, thats enough for 2 power plants if you use the trade union foundry item. a single unbuffed oil well in the new world will then power a fuel station I like bright harvest because I need less farmers using it and it's thematically appropriate

Get Sunken Treasures, too. Crown Falls is a lot of fun (and a great money maker), and Nate sand his salvager plus the quests he gives you are very helpful. In addition, you can craft very useful items at his island (e.h _Hurricane_ turbine, essential to late-game trade). And once you get to the point where you build really large islands, you will love Docklands. It is the single most powerful DLC in the game, more powerful than all the rest combined, if you use it right. Supplying huge numbers of inhabitants becomes child's play with Docklands.

As someone who just played their first 50 hours of Anno 1800 and wanted spice things up with some dlc this was really helpful! In the end, I went with The Passage, the entirety of Season 2, Docklands and High Life. Skipped out on Sunken Treasures mainly because I like the space management in the Old World and the process of specializing island a lot, and I feel like having an island with way to much space would take that game aspect away. I don‘t really care much for Botanica, and after looking at some of the recipes of Tourist Season, my god, those look annoying. These are my thoughts on the matter atleast.

You nailed it there. If it wasn't for the research institute I wouldn't even play Land of Lions, they had a chance to make an entire new region and I really think they blew it. The rewards of being there aren't worth it to me if I'm going to play a game without the research institute, I don't even have the lol in my game then.Botanical, ugh, I really don't get that one either, I mean you don't really have to do much to get the items, but then they take up space for very little if any reward, except beauty and I think you could do that any other way because most are just buildings, you can't even see the plants. So ya, if someone is using this guide to buy the game, it's spot on, if I were only going to buy the game and a few DLC's, this is what I would get too.

The quest lines are very long - this is true, but you do not have to do them every time. And certainly Docklands is the worst possible DLC for me among all. @@alexanderkukalev7826 I feel you, but if you try to write about it on reddit or ubisoft forum - they'll eat you alive ;) Recently I figured out how to make me less mad about docklands. I'm allowed to import globally 30t of good for each 1t/min I produce globally. For example if I produce 10t/min Canned Food I'm allowed to import 300t in one dock or 150t per two docks/islands etc. This calculation is because 30t is +/- equivalent of 1t/m. This way I use dockland as +50% boost to a chain. It's not perfect, but it's not that hard to count/track since you know production speed from statistics menu when you select all the islands.

Was curious what you got to say about The Anarchist & aesthetic packs, even though those are not the "main line DLCs". Maybe not much can be said for the aesthetic packs. - Amusement & City Lights are nice additions for beauty builders, but other DLCs have their own set of decorative sprinkles. - Vehicle Liveries : _Sick paint jobs for yo' rides._ One way I used this is to differentiate my ships by type. Say multi-region route is different from a island-to-island route, or military petrols uses a different skin to a quick response task force.

What I like most: 1. Bright Harvest - I love what you can do with the farms, and the amount of stuff you can produce if everything is heavily optimized. I love the embellishments, too. I *really* enjoy supplying massive cities with a handful of cheap chains at 500% capacity, and an infrastructure that works. This lets me do that. It's fun watching the tractors and trains, too. 2. Sunken Treasures - Finding treasures is a bore and a timesink, crafting items is another boring chore, but the potential with it is superb. However, the Cape Trelawny map is exceptional and a complete game changer. It really allows you to go MegaCity. This, in turn, makes you really think twice about how you handle the New World, as farming space is limited. In come the tractors! 3. High Life - It makes my city way cooler, fun new mechanics. Yeah, alright: Docklands. Yeah, I can skip chains entirely, but I rather do that with clever items and optimization, But eventually I will use it if I run out of islands to [gold] mine or somesuch. What I often skip Botanica - Even with Crown Falls; I find that a museum and a zoo already take up too much space. Also, I much rather have my expeditions not include those flowers. The Polar expedition one - such a borefest with all the compulsory questing. Did it all once, not likely again. Also, I *hated* it that I couldn't wipe an AI faction off the map because he had an airship and just kept colonising Islands. The Enbesa One - I just watched your video on it, and will likely try it again with skipping the quest bit. I so far found it lackluster, haven't even made my scholar thing yet. I had fun getting tractors set up there, and play with the canals, but it's too hard keeping another eye on and defend, as I feel the AI always goes there to blow everything up, the second they declare. I *hate* losing hours of progress and this happened one too many times, for me. I think next time, I will play without the AI players, but with hardest pirates for fighting stuff. I prefer this game kind of slower, and always have a better time once I wiped the expanding AI out, anyway. Really looking forward to: New World Rising. I hear there's something coming with a new civ tier in the New World, larger New World Island [I really want a Jungle Crown Falls] and the current New World DLC I haven't tried yet. I am really looking forward to go all in once that one arrives.

I can't say I disagree with your assessment but have one caveat: I love Docklands in spite of it's game changing affects, not because of them. Being able to beautify the dock with Docklands is the reason that I love it. I try not to use the importation of goods but do use the larger range harbormaster and the extra item slots. I also really like the High Life but am thinking it may be because it's new - if I feel the same about it in 6 months, it might make my must have list.

Yeah...I found bright harvest to be a pain. I already hate having to train oil in to different areas, and dedicate islands to producing and bringing in more oil, so having a DLC that makes a basic easy production chain more complex by involving oil is a big stupid idea to me. The silo's aren't bad because they can use excess grain to boost production, but its still creating more problems than it solves. Too many links in the chain that can break. Say you set this all up but you run out of oil, well now your farms are producing way less across the board, and ruining the production of all kinds of finished goods. If you simply don't use it, and build everything with proper ratios, then you will have literally zero problems except having to use more space. Space is not an issue with commuter piers...just dedicate an island to making grain, red peppers, etc.
